When using the tanker planner and configuring tankers for a mission, if you select use tankers assigned to a specific mission, it seems that it is only possible to assign 1 mission specific tanker mission to use. Is that correct? I might be wrong but I thought that in the past more than 1 could be assigned.

i believe more than one can be assigned.... i set up a tanker track as a support mission and assign x tankers to it.... then with missions or groups i designate which tankers/tanker tracks i want them to be supported by....

I think the issue is with the Mission using the tankers, not having multiple tankers assigned to a Support mission. The Support mission works very well to rotate multiple units in a recurring manner but the Missions using the Tanker Support mission have many peculiarities.

1. A Ferry mission that will require 2 separate Re-fueling missions in 2 different locations on the globe (CONUS to Middle East) has to be manually micro-managed.

2. Having multiple missions assigned to a single Tanker Re-fuel Support mission will create logic issues around queuing and partial re-fuels that does not appear fully worked out. The mission that needs refueling when faced with dry tankers who are rotating off station should have the option to simply loiter and wait for the replacement tankers who are in bound. Loitering at the Tanker Refuel mission area does not appear to be a logic option while it seems to be the most common sense way of dealing with this.

3. Missions which have failed to re-fuel appear to simply be zombie missions flying to their death without raising alerts or seeking re-fuel options or divert airbases. There is no reason for a mission to simply fly to their death without raising Events and evaluating other alternatives. A minimum of "Raise Alert on Refuel Critical Event" should be implemented as a stop gap.

I have spent around 10 hours learning how to solve the re-fueling problem in the first scenario of Desert Storm and have observed many gaps in refueling logic. I'm re-running the scenario about a dozen times until I solve them all. I'd be happy to hear from others on how they solve complex refueling scenarios involving a dozen missions all with different refueling issues some having multiple refueling stops for a global ferry mission.

I've had numerous problems with DS scenario #1, trying different ways to transport my flights from CONUS to Middle East, just when I think I've got it figured out, and planned accordingly, when missions launch, my flights leaving CONUS are immediately on Bingo Fuel....I honestly don't know what the scenario designers wanted us to do. So far in my trials of running that scenario, the EASIEST planes to get across the pond to the middle east have been the F-16's. And that makes no sense to me.

For CONUS units ready them for Ferry load out. I have 8 Support missions with recurring tankers and I need to micromanage a bit to get all the Ferry missions completed but it can be done. However, refueling logic could use a few features imo.

I'm using build 1121.6

And I am only able to select 1 support mission from a list of multiple support missions when I want to use tankers assigned to a specific mission. It should allow more than 1 support mission to be selected. Can someone else try to see if they have the same result? If they do then I will report this in the tech forum.

thanks

I've done tanker drags in Command before. No problem. I'll have to play with this.
