live the life of a Roman soldier during the years of the Second Punic War and beyond.

May not be much to look at but the number of tactical options during a fight surprised me. Also seem like a nice Narrative.

Looks definitely original and interesting. Never heard about this before. It looks like an old game by looking at the interface but I see that the release date is 2019.

You can download a free demo version to try the game before you buy.

You'd be surprised about how many new games look like old ones. I make a guess that great majority of the new games don't match the eye-candy of Crysis. Just look at John Tiller's war games.

Greetings jack54,
I was not aware of this game. Would be a nice complement to Al Jacta series and HPS sims Ancient Wars titles I have.
Thanks for posting

Except that Tiller series was developed 20+ years ago and they continue to use the same code/engine.
But I find it interesting that a totally new games look like games from the 90s. And I rather like it TBH :-)
And apparently "Legionary" was developed with Unity 3D so it's definitely a devs choice to look retro. Good !

This game was released just yesterday (6th), but just look at it. Looks more like Baldur's Gate than Neverwinter Nigths.

I like it !!
it rather looks like battle brothers. Probably developed with the same engine. But nevermind, I like this style of graphics. Hope the gameplay is deep. For example, I love role playing games where you NEED to eat otherwise you're first starving, then dead. So many RP games forgot this essential part of life ;-)
Will further invetsigate this game, Thanks !

Actually the game looks alot like Stardew Valley, or Graveyard Keeper, both sold alot of copies by the way, and there´s alot of people who like retro graphics now days, see mincraft!

So Tiller's new games are practically DLC with cost of a new game?

A lot (with a space) of the people are now playing with a tablet, cheap laptop, or smartphone. On top of that, it has never been easier for small teams (2 by 3) and even lone individuals (John Tiller, Joni Nuutinen) to publish their games. Put the two together, and we have come to the point where tens (if not hundreds) of new games come available every day (many never translated to English language).

That´s a good question. I would like to know too.

Some complain that not all JTS games have good AI, but also say that all are good for PBEM.

First of all I'm not an expert of Tilller's games so I might be wrong. I just own 3 of them. But yes, they all look like the same (interface, mechanism, etc). But I find it totally unfair to speak about DLC as they all cover different battles/ time periods. And My guess is that the biggest part of the development is the historical research (battles layout, OOBs, maps, etc). Furthernore, Tiller's games are niche games and they don't sell zillion of copies so I'm happy to pay a higher price to contribute to keep the company alive. Otherwise what would we be playing ? Fancy 3D real time pseudo historical hollywood-like titles ?
No, thanks, I'll pass. Long live Tiller !

I agree on that, JTS has to be the best when it comes to documentation, research, developer notes etc. Just for that his games are worth it.

I would have bought Stoneshard at the asking price, but I already have similar games, and when it come to rouge like, Jupiter Hell, is one hell of a game

You beat me to the punch. And DRL ( = Doom Rogue Like) cost nothing, so your poor wallet can think about it.

So is Jupiter Hell how much better?

Bought it today too. Love the PixelArt, Kynseed and Children of Morta are also very nice looking games if you like this type of art.

StoneShard will be great once fully developed. It's already amazing. Few issues like lack of save feature, respawn at each update during early Access, and yet many (yes many !) feature aren't yet implemented. This title will be a big winner in the RPG sector. I just decided to delay my playing because I don't wanna spoil my pleasure by playing an unfinished game. But great playing time ahead !

I agree, and the publisher is well known, which is a guarantee they they will deliver. It´s in beta, which means the main additions are there, but yes there are still things missing from there roadmap.

Just started playing yesterday, but I don´t know if I want to wait till it´s finished, I have already done (doing) that with Kynseed since kickstarter, and that was last year.

Anyhows, liking it so far!

It was either StoneShard, or Children of Morta of which I also had my eye on, and was/is on sale at GOG. But Children of Morta is real-time, and I don´t want another Grim Dawn click fest! So I went with StoneShard which Iam happy I did...

Whether it's strategy or RPG, turn based games rule! I'm definitely a turn based guy.
