Another Faletti World War III scenario. This one is all of Europe. Scenario was in III format; loaded into the scenario editor and saved as a TOAW IV scenario. No idea how it plays. Rename file type from .zip to .sce

This is one of best scenarios for TOAW, I rate it among McBrides classics and others. FiTE was too daunting even for me, but I managed 17 turns lol. We will send to NATO HQ working version just in case Russian Bear awaken :)))

I would say that this is a real treasure find in TOAW terms.... Maybe there is more such a good scenarios waiting to be ressurected. This could also benefit to TOAW popularity. And if Silvanski put his Midas, Magic touch on this I predict that this scenario will be very popular.

I dug it up and put a rudimentary PO in place.

This one will require some loving care though. Some units are stacked with an unnecessary load of Command Groups and HQ's Supply Groups may need to be adjusted. Some improvements to the map, unit colors, formation co-operation etc.
There are no Theater Options, so that's one headache less.

If someone could do it, it is you
I played it long time ago but I do remember that scenario had nice flow and some little touches here and there. My HD crashed at point where my NATO forces were entering Romania, Iraq was all cleared and I pushed north....I could imagine great aar and good pbem games based on this scenario. The trick for NATO was to defend in Germany and slowly attack Warsaw Pact on the periphery. It was really touch and go to plug all holes in time against Sons of The Steppes and their thousands upon thousands of T72 slowly rolling across my positions. Game in The Balkans was also interesting but here I had some luck maybe as well. But you get biggest kick at losses and thinking how much will that cost to tax payers...

In the meantime I am playing slowly 1947, and enjoying the scenario immensely.

I cannot seem to get this game to work. I select player vs player before starting. Game turn 1 has Warsaw Pact to start but I cannot move any units.
Nothing I do when I click on a unit seems to work.

Any suggestions what might be going on?

Yes, start player vs player and WP plays first. I assume you want to play NATO like me, then just go to under Play options Computer Player, select WP and then computer will start to play. Better than nothing :)
Actually he is not that bad. Of course that human player is better but Elmer can be of assistance as well.

Well, my fault, it isn't graphics, silly me. It is ordinary put into scenarios nato vs warsaw pact and it works... I am just at the end of turn 29.
Maybe some TOAW technical expert can help here? I am just a TOAW grandmaster

what name did you give the scenario file?

If I look at the set advanced player option, I cannot exit the menu. I have to use task manager to end the program.
Not a well designed piece of software.

Well, I didn't renamed scenario just put it in sce dir I think that this is procedure since TOAW 1 from 1998.

Well, TOAW is mix of old and new software it takes time to upgrade everything. It's difficult because it is code from 1998. or maybe even before.
Someone will help you, well don't worry, you will play this sce.

Well, I have a copy on my laptop. I don't know exactly how I did it. I think that it is compressed with Win RAR or something. Send me your email address to my inbox and I will send you scenario, what I have so you will play it in no time. I will copy scenario from my TOAW 4 folder and send it to you. OK?

PS. In anyway I have taken pause from this game and playing Europa 1947! What a brutal scenario!
TOAW 4 is splendid software.... Hmmm. maybe we old dogs must be used to some combats that have no casualties for one side and plenty for others (I am seeing this a lot in TOAW 4 I am talking about individual battles) and time machine canceled. Well, we kind of like it surrounding troops and killing it. Now, with timestamp there is penalty to enter that hex in movement points. But anyway TOAW 4 is superb product.

Few words on 1947 scenario. What I said very brutal scenario. In turn 3 Russians attacked more than 100 times. Like there is no tomorrow. So it is very hard for the Germans.... Some strange things happened. When Portugal joined Allies I have sent 2 French fleets from Brest, to block enterance in Portugal harbour. Elmer did send some Polish units into Porugal but took casualties, and also one big Allied fleet instead of attacking me moved closer to me and took a lot of casualties. OK me as well but it is good that PO do some stupid things.
Like attacking Rhodes in the same turn. First his Carriers took a minor damage passing near Rhodes and with counterbattery (I mean planes) he evaporated my coastal unit. Whole. I said what's that. But then he attacked again Rhodes and took something like above 1588 percent casualties. His air unit evaporated and also one whole fleet I think...
He lost four carriers and four disabled and also 21 disabled destroyers and 6 destroyed. LOL those Italians have put a brave fight for just a few casualties.... And how I have 33% and 50% Interdiction when I took most off my planes from Interdiction and only those reorganizing are on Interdiction (you cannot took them from Interdiction because they are reorganizing few turns in a row).

Did anyone played Europa 1947 scenario latest version? Is this some masochist version? LOL Can Axis win this attack... I used every skill to hold Russian hordes but it is a question how long my front will hold.... In Spain I am doing rather good instead of some bad luck and some formations reorganizing few turns now (bad luck with some units from 12th Army they are now free to play... I know winter Shock 75 all winter so quarter of forces are during winter reorganizing). In Syria and Iraq and Iran is interesting game. Elmer is doing a good job, very agressive play but my lines hold and I also counterattacked).

Great scenario! But very very hard...

And one favour... Who have Great War 2.0 for TOAW 4.... Hello anyone there? I need it because maybe this Europa 1947 will turn out like a losing match soon :)

When I've run into this problem in the past I've uploaded the
big file to a file server on the interwebs and then send my
opponent the address of the link. It's good for 30 days I
believe. The one I use is here:

Thanks. Good to know for future use. Right now I cannot do this. And don't have time for this. Somebody send the guy this file if he still needs it. Sorry.

Because SCE files are already GZIP'ed (that's why they're so small). So when renamed to ZIP, Windows thinks it can open the compressed file - which someone apparently did, and inside is the uncompressed 65MB scenario file. Which actually can't be opened in TOAW so not sure how someone apparently managed to do so

The long random string comes from how this forum (for some reason or other) renames zip files when uploaded.

Anyway - I've attached a file that should work. Opened and saved it in the Editor to give it a stored name that better matches the title.

Oh, thanks! I don't know now how I opened it. It must be my C64 and Amiga trickery, just joking, I am not so technically superior.

I wrote an AAR so I for sure made it to work. How, now I don't remember.

But, thanks very much... I am playing Europa 1947. Wow! That is funny scenario. Spaniards have captured Gibraltar and I am preparing to send to the bottom of Mediterran some Allies navies... And sent so much arty to Eastern Front to punish Russians for invading The Reich
