Hello,

I have come back from TOAW I (20 years out?), and I have a question... (sorry for my English).

When I plan a combat, p.e. one infantry unit (13+5/14) vs a another infantry unit (2+1/3). I watch in planning combat screen some values,... two of them are NET ODDS= 5.786 and ASSAULT RATIO (AR)= 335.

Both of them are very different in value,...what means each of them?

Thank you... :).

See 13.20 for the Assault Ratio. It is a measure of the ratio of actual assaulter strength vs. defender strength - both sans support (ground combat strength only). A value of 100 is neutral (both sides equal). It affects support strengths and defender ammo costs. The purpose is to obsolete "ant attacks" that had been common prior to it (anything below 100 debilitates the attacker). It is not an accurate measure of relative combat power in the attack, and should not be used that way.

See 16.4 for the Combat Planner. The Odds pane is discussed near the end. It includes terrain and handles soft vs. hard combat separately. This is a much more accurate measure of relative combat power in the attack (especially if the defender support can be accurately estimated and inserted in the calculation).

The fraction of strength derived from Armor/anti-armor. (as opposed to the "soft" fraction formed from AP/DF).
