I have been playing a number of MP games since New Year and an odd thing has happened periodically.

In a number of cases (about 4, I think), my opponent has not responded for a while and I assume that he has quit without clicking the Resign button. The text line representing the game in my view remains red for a while, with the rollover notification that it is waiting for my opponent to post a move.

BUT THEN, the text line changes to gray, the rollover says "Challenge Completed" and a winner seems to be randomly assigned.

This seems a bit weird. In one case, it happened after my opponent had failed to post even an opening move.

Currently, there are two games--IDs 170196 and 172911--on my list in which this has happened (there were, I think two more, but they have since disappeared from my list--I'm assuming because the list has a maximum number of entries it can display, but I'm not sure).

Anyone else had this experience?

I believe the server has a timeout period where after three weeks or so (something like this) the game is marked as abandoned from inactivity. This may result in a winner being automatically assigned, not fully sure, I don't code or control the server, and then after that I believe they may eventually be removed from the server as well as part of a clean up script.

NOTE: Looking at 170196, it looks like it was set as abandoned after 3 weeks, and then a week after that it was marked as finished by the server. It will probably be automatically removed a week to two weeks after that.
