I know I promised pictures of Sam. I have probably over a thousand of him. They pop up on my computer screen many times a day and I feel obligated to look at them and not do anything else.

I will pick out a few and reduce them to the posting requirements.

Had to take my Fuzzy Love to the vet today. Thought she had broken her leg jumping off the barn roof, but she only twisted it from the knee down. Very painful for her. No outside or barn roofs for awhile. Very thankful that is all that it was.

My cats are the ones I see every day, care for, and receive love in return. When something happens to one of them it is like it happened to close family.

Give her one baby aspirin. Keep some on hand for these situations. Aloe Vera for skin problems as well.

Harry comes to see me laying down. I hear some running around, then a crash - which I have heard before. I get up a few minutes later, Harry is laying on the floor, unresponsive, still warm but not breathing.

RIP Harry.

Our cat has the same markings, dark stripes and kind of an overall hazel tone. I often think how I will react when that day comes, the final goodbye. I'm sorry to see this RangerJoe. My condolences. My best of friends have been dogs and cats. I take it hard when they die, and I went close to thirty years without a pet for that reason alone.

My closest friend and ex work partner died recently, we used to drink Moosehead beer after work. Your pictures are a double whammy.

I wish I could say something that would help, but nothing could.

so sorry to read this, given his age that must have been a complete shock

we lost one when he was hit by a car (this was about 14 years back) when he was much that age and it was a real feeling that he'd never have the chance to develop and do all the things he might

The only time he went outside was when he was in a pet carrier. The only time he would be in the hallway in the apartment building for any length of time was when the neighbors children would play with him, then we moved.

So it is a shock. He had his annual check up and shots ten days ago, no problems noted. He did not like the experience but his sister had to problem. The people had to sedate him but no problems with that at all.

I did ask the vet a question that she could not answer: "What is the legal drinking age for cats? Concerning beer that is?" She knew of no studies so I would just give him a bottle cap full. I plan on burying him with a full one.

When we first got Hazel, we took her to the vet, got her the shots that everybody thinks cats need. Right away she got sick, no energy and sometimes unresponsive. The vet taught my wife how to check her gums for color, and if they were not pink and more white, she needed a drug he recommended that had prednisone in it. Long story short, every time she had this expensive medicine she would be wired, but kept having the sick spells. We stopped the medicine, stopped taking her to the vet, and since then has never had a single down day. That's been four years ago. Damn doctors, they screwed me up too.

My condolences for your loss.

But Harry was so young. He and his sister and a vet checkup just ten days before and no problems were found. That is what really bothers me. His sister seems lost, she looks for him, she does not seem to want to play.

Hazel was about one to two years old and the shots the vet gave her just about did her in. Then the idiot gave her the prednisone crap and she just about died from that. Could Harry have been allergic to what the vet gave him?

No. Rabies and distemper shots he had before. Nothing else given other than a mild sedation - I think gas. This happened ten days later; he was fine with a great appetite, running around, and playing.

The only thing that I don't miss is when he would get between my feet and try to trip me while walking, then lay down in front of me. I usually ended up picking him up and holding him for a minute or so otherwise I would play with him for a bit.

That's funny, Hazel will do something similar. It's like she figures everybody will just walk through walls to go around her.

Yes, but did you have to carry her to the toilet when you had to sit down? I think that he learned not to get in the way when I was near that certain room.

When she was a kitten, Sweet Pea used to like to jump on the toilet lid which I would put down after use. One time and one time only, she jumped up before I got the lid down. I ended up grabbing her by the scruff of the neck and washing her under the bath tub faucet. She did not complain nor did she do that again.

I did have a tomcat can't who did not mind it unless it was blowing sideways. He kept asking to go out but when he saw what it was like, he changed his mind. So I shoved him outside for 5 minutes and it cured him of wanting to go outside for a day and a half. He was a long haired cat who did not mind the cold . . .

yep, our queen (Rosa) just loves it, along with frost and ice, wind and rain. Its not just she goes out in those conditions as I have had previous cats who did that - but then came back and complained at length. She then wanders back in later, perfectly content with her long fluffy coat soaked and muddy as if this was perfectly normal
