Hi Mr Yank - this is from the Highway Code:

The approach to, and exit from, a pedestrian crossing is marked with zigzag lines. It also means that you must not park on them or overtake the leading vehicle when approaching the crossing. Parking here would block the view for pedestrians and the approaching traffic.

Personally I've always taken the view that its an order for drivers to start Zig-Zagging.

As one approaches the zebra crossing one naturally slows down. This makes the threat of torpedo attack much greater; hence the need to zig zag. Seems I was wrong all these years...

I was! A few years back my elder warspite recorded at the Abbey Road studios with the LSO. She, and other selected children from east and southeast London, played with the LSO at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. And I Will Kiss and Nimrod were recorded there so that they could play the studio version at the actual ceremony.

I tried it but there was a problem..... it completely dazzled oncoming traffic too...

I tried it but there was a problem..... it completely dazzled oncoming traffic too...

It's their own fault if they can't hold their assigned position in the convoy.
