Hi

I have a weird UI problem. I can resize any window that appears on screen, except for the main game window with the menus. Hovering over the corners or edges does not display the necessary mouse icon that allows the resizing to take place. This is an issue because certain important details cannot be seen, you will notice at the bottom of the window the brown and yellow sections are only partially visible (see screenshot). I can click the maximise option but it only maximises the width, not the height. It is also possible to move the entire window around the screen without difficulty.

I have a widescreen laptop with a default screen resolution of 1920 x 1080.

Kind Regards
Ralph Sunley

The Main Form cannot be resized. Chances are you are using a Scale and Layout setting in your Display settings that is not 100%. If so, try changing it to 100%.

Paul is referring to the Windows Operating System Scale. It needs to be set to 100% for MWIF.

Also be careful of the Windows Menu Bar. It will steal some pixels from your available display for MWIF. That doesn't appear to be the problem here, although it is taking away from the bottom rows of the Detailed Map in your screenshot. Set the Menu Bar to 'popup' or whatever Microsoft is calling it these days.

Hi Gents

Thanks for your response, however I already have my screen set to 100% scaling.

I have an old monitor lying around, I will see if I have any luck using that as a second display.

Just for curiosity's sake, is there any reason why the main form can't be resized - is it because of the button controls?

Kind Regards
Ralph

Hi again, I hooked up my old 17 inch monitor as a second display but despite trying a large number of resolutions and layout configurations for both screens, the issue persists.

Kind Regards

Try this layout. Works for me with a laptop form the same size as yours.

There is something strange happening here if the display size is 100%. AFAIK the only other thing that may affect the main menu sizing is the Screen Layout settings. I see no Screen Layout panel in your screen shot but perhaps it is behind the the main form. Click on the sidewise 'L' button left of the 'X' button on the main menu to make it it's normal width. Then try restoring the NewGame.SLY.

Did you save or edit an SLY file?

Ok well you have cleared up one mystery, and that is what S L stands for!

I had not edited any layout files when I made my initial post. I have now had a look at them and tried creating some new ones. I can save different layouts for the various forms but the main form persists in its size.

@Centuur, could you please attach the .sly file file that you are using, perhaps I can try that.

Thanks for the quick response, however unfortunately it did not have the desired effect.

I am not sure that the Windows Operating System Screen Layout Panel is resizing to 100%.

Try playing around with different sizes (e.g., 150%, 200%) to see if that is making a difference.

My thought here is that your laptop may be overriding/ignoring the Windows setting.

I have some memories (mostly covered in cobwebs) about some computers have 'proprietary' software embedded to generate the screen display on a widescreen laptop.

Ok so I've had a partial victory. It looks like my scaling settings had got a bit mixed up, showing 100 when in fact the setting was 125. Anyway when I tried 150, the form appeared correctly, and then going back to 100 also worked. So it seems that the issue is at 125 only, which definitely crops the form.

Although it is slightly annoying to have to log off and change the setting prior to a gaming session (100 is too small and 150 too big for me to do my actual work effectively) , at least I now have a workaround.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.
