Hi all.

I have a question, I am currently playing Japon (see here in french my AAR on leqg org

We are in summer 1943, close to 1 for 3.8 VP for me ;-)

but I lost 800 point (on japon score) in 15 turn.. crap!

All air ground were withdraw on time. No base lost.
From what is it coming that lost of Point? Some of my BB are not upgraded. is it coming from that?
I have few base without supply, (Suva is close to nothing) is it coming from that?

Thank you in advance for your answer.

oulig, you do lose points for bases out of supply. If you fall under a certain threshhold (can't remember if it's 1x or 2x), your points a halfed. If you have a bunch of points for a base like Suva or Noumea or Luganville, that could well be the culprit.

You do not lose any victory points for failures to upgrade ships.

I have never payed any attention to the games point system and don't expect I ever will. If you don't know if you're winning or losing you need to play some more.

Geoff's philosophy is similar to that of the poet Carl Sandberg, who preferred free verse and eschewed the rules of formal poetry. In response, Robert Frost said, "That's like playing tennis without a net."

Some/many prefer playing without points, but there's a strong subset that has found richness, challenge, fun and merit in the points system.

Points are a good way to check if you are ahead or behind the historical timeline. But there is also fun in seeing how it comes out with looking at the points.

Thx for you anwser! The interest to follow point is how it will force a desperate attack from ally to be sure to have 1:2 before end of year 1943!! He has some job to do!
I was at 1 :3.8 and 15 days after already 1:3.6 without doing anything... that worries me to force him to react if I keep that way!

It is worse than that when there are no supplies present, but it is linear.

It scales down to 25% as a minimum points value when a base has zero supplies. If a base has at least it's required number of supplies (no red !, but can have a yellow ! because the yellow signified less than double required), then it is worth 100% of its points value.

Presumably, although I haven't tested it, if your base only has 1/3 of its required supply amount then it would be worth 50% of its points value.

That would be the road not taken.
