In either case, this is not confirmed by aircraft losses as Luganville (level 2 airfield) is close enough to recover aircraft. Efate (level 0 airfield) can recover float planes. The Japanese have no knowledge of the aviation support level at either base. The Japanese carriers will not pursue.
