Nice job on that CL force near Port Blair and on the sub trap for Atago. Do the FP ground losses show that Atago sank?

I forgot to check float planes, but I think it's goner. No need to have sub traps, I have flooded coast of Japan with massive amount of submarines. Could walk around Japan on sub periscopes...

Related to subs, IJN subs made sudden re-appearance in January after month or two absence. Now they are again everywhere (killed another Brit sub too), making me to assign more protection for transport convoys.

Must have been some script firing in January 1944.

It would be in your interest to let them retreat to the clear hex SE and then trap them there - no urban terrain bonus when mopping up the remnants.

I am already 1-1 with no forts left, urban or not, so to save time I'll just let them be for a while.

Lurking once again - very nice to see you back providing such valued insight.

Question though: Why not Aillinglaplap ?

In "stock game" the "Big A Island" is the one with the highest development potential; the difference is significant compared to peer islands nearby ( as I recall)

Having played through a couple / few time now - and I am taking the engine accuracy carte blanche - it actually made me question why Nimitz did not target Aillinlaplap. i.e. as opposed to Roi etc. I fully understand that Roi et al had a marvelous lagoon for staging ships but a construction regiment, Land Based Air, Naval Support, and Fwd US Cent Pac Air HQ make the big A a massive Central Pacific "Allied Truk" so to speak...

I am going to take them all

At least those with development potential more than (0)(1) or so.

Edit:

Ailinglaplap (somehow I always call it Ailing lap dance island) is coming up second in line of targets. I prefer to have more LBA presence in CentPac aka "slow advance".

Good to see those torpedo capable Peggys attacking airfields and getting slaughtered. That should mean loss of pilots skilled in NavT.

Nasty turn at Makin where he suddenly started catching your Liberators on the ground and getting airfield hits. Looks like you moved the Libs out, but you are letting the AI bomb Makin without defending against that? Can you bring up some fighters or is the AF too damaged?

Good job on trapping all those IJ units in Bangkok. Your last Intel screen was one of the few I have seen with IJ LCU points loss exceeding the Allied LCU points loss. It will look even better next time!
