Hi,

1 - Is there a way to quickly set all squadrons to fly only day? They are currently all set to day and night.

2 - In the Air Execution Phase Summary, Exec Detail, all my Recon flights are set to "NONE". What does this mean?

3 - In the opening turn I lost my 3/82nd Airborne Division. Now I have 1 and 2 left, but can I somehow recreate the lost 3 so that again can create a full 82nd Airborne Division?

Thank you, more questions incoming :)

1. Go to the Commanders Report for Air Units (INFO TAB ON TOP OF SCREEN > COMMANDERS REPORT BUTTON ON TOPMOST TOOLBAR > AIR TAB ONCE IN THE REPORT). With all your air groups selected (this is the default), click the Mission Settings button. This will display a prompt asking for whether you want the selected aircraft to be fly Day & Night, Day Only, Night Only, Training, or Rest. Enter Day Only, and there you go. You might want to muck around in here a bit just to see the possibilities. The most pertinent feature is allowing you to sort by morale and fatigue, and then rest those units that are under the weather - but if for some reason you only wanted PO Hurricane IIs to receive trained pilots, you could do that.

2. They didn't fly. Usually the culprit is weather, but if this is summer in the med then there is almost certainly a different reason. Either no aircraft assigned to the AD, or none capable of getting there - try ticking the NO FLY INFO box to see why squadrons might not make it. They'll also be greyed out for easy visual reference.

3. The counter for 3/82 will come back at an inconvenient place like England or Oran depending on the scenario. It will be 0% filled on MTOE. It will also be locked in place for a while (5 turns?), after which it will be eligible to receive replacements. Then the slow process of rebuilding it begins - best to put it on top of a National Supply Source (they're the big stars in logistics overlay). The finally, when you re-unite it with the others...you have the full 82nd.

As a side note, regimental jumps near the ocean are a bit risky for most people's taste,

Thank you GloriousRuse for coming back to me.

1 - I found the Air Tab in the Commanders report and was able to set all to Day only. Now the problem seems to be that some squadrons would rather fly at night. I assume that is what the violet color means? Is there an easy way to filter out only these squadrons so that they easily can be returned to night only?

I have a screenshot of this here but I was not able to paste it directly into the post... https://www.dropbox.com/s/z2bpkxkde44a820/CR%20Air.png?dl=0

2 - I do not think you are correct that they did not fly. Take a look at this screenshot: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ky51g2zee1jl1y9/Air%20Execution%20Phase%20Summary.png?dl=0
I can click on the NONE and change to ALL, but do not see what happens...

3 - I see. Will it reappear almost immediately or will it take a few turns? This is the Introductory Scenario - Operation Husky, so the regimental jumps have already been planned.

1. I'll be honest and admit I don't recall what the violet means off the cuff in this screenshot, but I don't think there's a night flying preference beyond the air frame dictates. It may be a Sort we're not seeing, especially if you used the AI help. Regardless, those aircraft are perfectly viable day craft - the Free French Hurricanes for instance really couldn't be anything else.

You'll also notice you set large numbers of spitfires and P-39s to "NO" = Night Only. Assuming that's not what you want, a tip: Probably the easiest way to do this as the allies, honestly, is at the start of a scenario just set everything to Day and Night. You're almost always on the attack, so you don't need to worry about your NFs running CAP by day, and it'll make everything easily visible when you toggle between day and night bombing.

If you still wanted to set certain aircraft to night only, you could try selecting the aircraft type at the bottom and only highlight, say NF (nightfighters) or possibly click an air force like Bomber Command and then set the entire Air HQ to NO. Again, I find this mostly useful for the Germans whose nightfighters need to be watched carefully - there are ways to use them by day, but you certainly don't want them doing it on their own accord.

2. I was thinking of a different NONE. Your planes are running recon and there is no issue. If you click one of the little plus signs, you'll get a vast long list of stuff recon'd. It almost certainly isn't worth reading since you can see the result on the map either naturally or by turning on the recon overlay if you want more, but its there.

3. I'm not sure for Husky, but with a scenario this short it wouldn't matter - you'd never get them unlocked, let alone filled, before scenario end. As a tactical aside, the Sicily jumps are of questionable value; you might want to retarget them, recombine the division and then jump, or my personal favorite, just fly the airborne in to an airfield hex you need held.

Thank you again GloriousRuse

In the manual there are a reference to colors in the name of units in the Air Groups tab, but they do not mention the violet:

Air group units that are currently eligible and will fly Naval Patrol missions unless player action is taken will be colored turquoise (17.3.5). Air group units with their mission set to rest will be colored pink, while those with their mission set to training will be colored yellow (8.1.2).

Yeah, no idea - my best guess is still that it’s a Sort, as many other Sort selections highlight a similar color. Feel free to ask any other questions - and, after bonking around with it a touch, I can highly recommend going to MP. The AI can provide a nice game (provided you’re the WA), but the game really shines in multiplayer.
