So based on the replays only I think I have sunk

2 Battleships the Jean Bart and Provence
6 CVL's
3 Cruisers, 2 Destroyers and a Sub.

CVL Toulon and BB Lorraine may also sink so far decisive if only my betties had flown its cost me 200 irreplaceable KB air crew !!!

Still no sign of US Carriers which is worrying 3 - 4 undamaged fresh US CV's could cause mayhem right now until I can replace my strike groups

I think that you did very well.

The Allies probably put every fighter on CAP over those ships yet you did score some good hits. You can replace air crew and aircraft a lot easier than the Allies can build ships to replace the ones that were lost.

entertaining. I have no idea of the OOB's in this mod, so just watching and enjoying. That you gave better than you got, obvious. That it was a win? No idea … no idea what replacements the allies get nor you, so no input. But great fun reading!!! Keep it up!!!

The mod has definitely been beefed up since I meddled with it way back when. Good job.

The Govt in this parallel universe must have reduced the minimum age for volunteers to 13, and or called up the Boer War veterans!

It could be a ploy to make the Japanese overestimate the size of the Australian Army. Either that, or they've been recruiting emus as elite shock troops...

It looks like this is an additional Militia Div and appears to be the only addition and it has been committed to PM which I don't think he can hold.

What is killing me is the sheer number of Catalina strike aircraft he has ultra long range operate from poor airfields and kill me they are a never ending thorn in my side

It blindsided me and I am losing 1 or 2 ships a day to these pests its either cover EVERY TF at all times or take the attritonal losses until I can push his bases back

Not fun

Unless the Catalina production is increased, it will cause problems in the long run. But I am sure that it is annoying.

Seems that way, I have destroyed 450 Dorniers and Catalinas thru June. Not to mention those uber nasty Brigands and Beaufighters

Nah, that isn't it.

Curtin peered into the future and saw what big teeth those rabbits had against the Black Knight. Subtle change to the rabbit bounty hunters scheme. Payment now made for each live rabbit brought in to the army recruitment office who enlisted.

Something to read, but PH is probably best done at the start of the game. But that does not mean that it can't be done now:

Olorin " Olorin [J] vs JocMeister [A] "
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3864684&mpage=1&key=

Lowpe " Lambs to the slaughter (Lowpe (J) vs Jocke; BillBrown "

quote:

Here we go again, another pickup.

This is a scen 30 game with PDU off. Souped up Jacks, Georges, and Tonies, deadly AA, scenario 2 base.

I am picking up the game after Olorin ran roughshed over the Allies capturing Pear Harbor, Port Moresby, and the Aluetians all by mid February 1942.

Yeah, Olorin has really defined the IJ opening moves now ... he has gone through the starting position for every LCU, ship, and air group and optimized the initial push. Kinda like how you create your scripts with a running list if what is available vs what has been used where.

Anyway, yep, he's the man ...

OK an update on what is happening at end of Jan 42

Malaya

Attacked a few times doing damage and knocking down forts but a small British Fragment cut the rail line from Bankok and I am only now bringing in the 3 fresh dvisions to deliver the coup de grace - I expect Singapore to fall within a week

PI

Clark is going to be a monumental pain I have decided to maintain the siege for now and may even pull a couple of Divisons out until later as I have better use for them elsewhere - Basically no more major attacks until supply is gone

Mindanao

major invasion en route trying the use a big hammer and you will lose less approach

PM :) fell this turn but only just the plan is to pursue the garrison to extinction while my more battered Divs rest and recuperate.

Ground combat at Port Moresby (98,130)

Japanese Shock attack

Attacking force 51716 troops, 625 guns, 185 vehicles, Assault Value = 1268

CENTPAC

All quiet still need to deal with Wake at some point

WESTPAC

All PI and Line islands captured apart from Pearl Harbour which is fully suppressed - 5 Divs en route for the landing and assault on PH probably not attack until 2nd/3rd week in Feb 42

Burma

Quiet not made a big push yet

DEI

Captured Kendari but apart from that quiet

China

Mess not really focussed on it enough yet

Overall I am reasonably happy I have made mistakes and will make more but I have a feeling in this mod that ships I own will become pure target practice later in the war so would rather spend them (hopefully wisely) now.

Economy supply keeps dropping overall in the empire but I haven't captured the big resource/oil sites yet and the previous Japanese Admiral set up a very ambitious research programme that is costing me a lot at present to repair.

I am researching 5 main aircraft

A6M8 Zero (Mitsi 33) - 25 Factories - Currently due 4/44
G8 Rita (Naka 45) - 16 Factories - Currently due 2/44
Oscar IV (Naka 35) (over 500 engines in pool) - 11 Factories - Currently 2/45
Tojo IId (Mitsi 31) (over 500 engines in pool) - 8 Factories - Currently 6/44
Tojo IIb (Naka 35) (over 500 engines in pool) - 4 Factories - Currently 7/43

I was due to move the IIb's to IId's research but I may need a big cannon aircraft earlier so being a little slow in moving them.

It looks like he messed up the research. Get the factories fixed first by researching the first in the line, then move down the path to the ones that you want. It is a lot faster and the supplies get used faster, but you don't collect interest on the supplies while they are in storage.

From the arrival dates, I doubt previous admiral messed up.

But my goodness look at that Rita investment.

That's a substantial investment for a Japanese 4E bomber, particularly one for 1944. If it doesn't eat up too much in the way of supplies, they might be handy in punishing your opponents if they don't CAP their ports and air bases sufficiently.
