As stated. I've no idea why.

Did it give you an exception message?

Also, was it repeatable? For example, if you went back to the autosave and ended the turn again, does the crash happen during the automatic ai turn resolution again?

If no exception message is given, but it is repeatable, perhaps use your phone to video the process. Describe or extract the image of the screen just before the CTD. The turn resolution provides a number of messages during execution, it may be worth reporting.

These are just some ideas to help nail down the error.

Don't delete the savegame prior to the error. It might be requested.

I had 2 crashes to desktop no warning no notice it just stopped and went to desktop. I replayed the turn and it didn't repeat. Both times my 12 gig memory was at 38 percent use. So it could have been my machine. Also on that point as I play after a day or so of playing memory usage goes from 28 percent to 38 percent.

You let the game run for days?

Just my two rupees, but this is a game written in Visual Basic and uses the Common Language Runtime (CLR)--just like C# code, etc. The game runs on a virtual machine. The dev team could write perfect code, but it's managed by the CLR. The garbage collector is not perfect. It will develop odd memory leaks over time even under the best circumstances.

No not days but I do play occasionally for 6 to 8 hours with no break in turning game off, not always on sometimes when a turn takes a bit I watch a 30 minute show on TV. Or occasionally a whole movie.

Me too, even 10-12 hours. I let it run while I work too. I use the long turn resolutions to post on the forums. It's contributed to my activity here for sure.

I'm sure the ASP.NET crowd will disagree with me too, about days, but it's a different animal. It's a different animal according to my unverifiable superstitions.

No exception message, and it's fairly consistent. It keeps crashing. It appears to crash during the resolution of a minor regime's turn.

Hi Hazard,

Send over a savegame that is causing a crash during ai execution to vic@vrdesigns.net with a link to this thread. I'll take a look.

Best wishes,
Vic

Windows 10 update after saving & ending a game (don't know what it was), now the game will not load.
Cannot start a new game & or save.
I am using 1.04b7 since it came out with zero issues & since June 4th this is my first crash.
I am also in a PBEM game that will not load. HELP!!!

Sounds like a system instead of a game issue. You might want to re-apply the beta patch Or even re-install and re-patch.

If you are getting any error message from the game please post it here.

Best wishes,
Vic

Last knight, ended my game (1.04b7) shutdown for Win 10 updates.
Next morning, loaded in a PBEM turn & it would start to load the file then exit.
Here is what I posted in another thread.

I think I have found the issue.
A PBEM file, though not 100% sure.
The game will load everything but that file, however, my other saves would not load either until I uninstalled the Win 10 updates:
KB4565633 & KB4565483.
Now all my saves load except the PBEM file & am waiting for a new file to confirm.

I did not re-install & I will say...I have been playing this game daily since June 4th using all the betas except 'b8' to date.
I have had zero crashes or other issues, so thank you for that.

I have both KB on my system without issue.
Did you try redownloading the PBEM file? Maybe its a security thing?

Best wishes,
Vic

Got another crash to desktop without any explanation, this time in v1.04b9. It happens immediately after making the autosave and the game starts configuring everything for turn resolution.

Would you like me to send the savefile?

@Hazard,

Send that save file over if it crashes consistently on pressing next turn.

Include a link to this thread please.

Best wishes,
Vic
