I am playing a PBEM game in which three of my bomber squadrons(Havocs, Mitchells and army Dauntlesses) wiped themselves out by attacking unescorted, a surface taskforce in the same hex as a carrier taskforce with loads of CAP up.
It was as if they didn't see the CAP like bombers usually do and thought the taskforce had no CAP over it.

I thought it strange that all three of my squadrons decided to end their days on the same turn as I've always noticed land based air very loathe to attack unescorted through heavy CAP.

Anyway, just wondering if different kinds of CAP over a taskforce eg long rage CAP can trick the targetting AI into thinking no CAP exists.
Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere but I haven't seen it.
