Ok, here is what I have (I haven't listed old dusty DOS titles).

The idea is, is there anything I'm missing, that I just don't know about (it's possible eh).

I don't own everything, just might look that way. I'm talking WW2 here, and maybe post war to modern. But mainly WW2. Nothing WW1 and earlier in history.

Offer some form of tangible reason for your suggestion please.

My list, in alpha order (I've used the name the owner sells as, I'm assuming you will recognize the names).

Advanced Tactics Gold
Anglo German War
Battle for Korsun
Battle of the Bulge
Battlefront
Battles in Italy
Battles in Normandy
Battlefield Academy
Campaign Series
Combat Command 2
Combat Mission (old 3)
Command Ops Battles From The Bulge
Commander Europe At War
Conflict of Heroes
Conquest of the Aegean
Drive On Moscow
Frontline Longest Day
Heroes of Normandie
Highway to the Reich
Iwo Jima
Korsun Pocket
Kursk Battle at Prochorovka
Legends of War
Matrix Games Close Combat (not newest)
Operation Barbarossa
Pacific General
Panzer Battles Battles of Normandy
Panzer Campaigns Series (most)
Panzer Command Ostfront
Panzer Corps 1
Panzer General 2 (GOG)
Russo German War
Squad Battles Series (most)
Steel Panthers Complete Collection (means all of it)
Storm Over The Pacific
Strategic Command Series (new Matrix ones)
Strategic War in Europe
Team Assault
The First Blitzkrieg
Tigers On The Hunt
TOAW 4
Unity Of Command (1 and 2)
War in the East and West
World at War A World Divided
World in Flames
WW2 Time of Wrath

I have only a few of those games - very few.

Do you prefer tactical or strategic?

No preference for strategic or tactical.

No preference for source publisher beyond I have a bias against wonky protection methods.

I have an inherent dislike of anything RTS (explains the lack of examples).

Haven't noticed any Shrapnel titles on your list: http://www.gamersfront.com/store/ - so there's still room for improvement...

Can't vouch for their quality as I've only tried their both Steel Panthers games--and they are good. Many of them have that military wargames simulator feel. You must look around in their store...

Don't see the Decisive Campaigns series by Vic, Advanced Tactics Gold successors. Enjoyed all three, mainly first and third. Multiple scenarios and editable.

You appear to be missing all of the Decisive Campaigns games which IMHO is a major oversight. Barbarossa is particularly good, but I'm sure you'd enjoy all of them.

edit: bobarossa beat me to it

And as pkpowers suggested Piercing Fortress Europa.

No War in the Pacific: Admiral's Edition.

Of course, you would have to retire all of your other games to play AE with any regularity.

Not really. After the first turn or so, it goes a lot quicker. Of course, there is also the PBEM possibility with lots of initial tutoring. Someone invaded Hokkaido in 1944 with a little tutoring . . .

But there are also short scenarios.

If you like 4x games then Shadow Empire is a must. War plan is good too.

All of Vic's games seem to be well worth the investment. The Decisive Campaign series and, if you like 4x titles, Shadow Empires is a well worth it!

There are also Fields Of Glory II and Fields of Glory: Empires. Both are immense fun and worth a look.

I have all three and I would take SMB any day over the Panzers. It's not as scripted and there is MUCH more to do, and technically wise too.

Almost all games do not meet my standards and unfortunately that means I'm usually cult of the new only playing new stuff searching endlessly for something I might like, but a few more recent titles that I do love and go back to vs trying new ones would include:

David Heath's Lock 'n Load Tactical Digital (Not the older Matrix one of similar name, this one has an awesome UI and many many modules already released or planned covering WW2 through modern)
David Heath's Nations at War Digital (Also has many modules released or already in the works, both games are cheap to get into and then you pay for scenario packs not unlike the boardgames)
Warplan (Yeah at first glance it looks just like 100 other games just like it, might even look worse but boy does it play well..my favorite game of its type in a long long time).

And outside of what you've asked for:
Stellaris - 4X has been done to death but the sheer volume of improvements and content for this game makes it better than any other I've encountered. Might be the record for most hours I've played a single game ever.
Cities Skylines - Same comments as Stellaris, but with SimCity style game. Sandbox with no winning condition you just play. Never had more fun and its great for Model Railroaders and such as there are endless transport options to entertain (Beyond all the railroads odd things like Blimps and Ski lift lines).
Warhammer 40K Gladius - A Matrix/Slitherine title often called a Civilization style game. Don't think thats quite accurate but close enough. Again done to death but where others bore me this one is absolutely excellent. Amongst the best non-wargames I've ever seen from Matrix.
Magnifico - Matrix Game, one of my favoriate board game ports of all time and really well implemented. Only for those that like euro/amerithrash style wargames though.
Hearts of Iron IV - No other game has pissed me off more than this one for being stupidly unrealistic at times. But not unlike Stellaris/Cities Skylines the pure level of investment made in continually evolving this game is such that you owe yourself to try it if you never have. Nothing else like it and when its good its great.

Decisive Battles - Based on the old 'Ardennes Offensive' [TAO], I would guess this series is well worth buying. However, it seems that there is no Support or Development for these games for many years, so may be a bad idea to buy them, especially as some folks couldn't even get them to run. I know there will be somebody that disagrees and syas they run great and need no support, but that is only good for those that are lucky. Check the dead forums for this series right here on the Matrix site.

Lock ‘n Load Publishing - This company looks good and is former Matrix and TOAW folks, but it seems to have Tactical games and those doesn't interest me so I never bought any.

Desert War looked good, have you ever looked at that one?

I have pondered Warplan and Decisive Campaigns.

I've also pondered Cities Skylines

I probably need to check out David's stuff and LnL, I don't go there too often.

How about a JTS game or two?
Also there are some interesting war games in eras prior to WW2. I have my eye on Victory and Glory, the Civil War.
