I've tried using the message feature in the Strategic Map tab to try and communicate with other human opponents. I get a text box, write the message, send it and get a "message sent" confirmation, but I don't believe anyone has received one.

Has anyone used this function successfully?

Repost from the other thread:

This is interesting.
In our game I have access to some data per the 'Blackspace' (major regime) & not the other majors, except for a few 'minors'.
This is via the 'Rep' & 'Regimes' tabs.
Also, per in-game messaging...where is that button?
I was not aware of that feature.

Is it via the 'Open Contact' cards?

The thing is that the message only appears in the Report -> Letterbox tab. The other players probably didn't check there.

It would be helpful if the message would be displayed on a VidCom screen at the beginning of the turn.

To send a message, open the Strategic Map and select the regime.

Ah HA!! DTurtle is correct. I dug back through my archive of saved turns, and sure enough there are the letters from Bluto, President for Life, waiting still in a sealed envelope on the imperial kitchen table, misplaced under a book.

Indeed.
I actually like the idea it arrives in the letter box - that zippers it in nicely with the feel of the rest of the game, but some sort of "you've got mail" notification is almost essential for this.

Thanks DTurtle!

Woa, I've never checked my letterbox. A lot of bills in here. Mark, you can't trust that Bluto guy, I learned from cartoons.

Hello eddieballgame. Here is a picture. You have to pick a human controlled regime for the message button to light up.

Thank you Eric, good stuff...will check when I receive my next turn.
I was aware of the 'Letterbox' but not the 'Message' button.
