So lets take a different tact. If a unit is auto-detected, unless it moves, that will be the only detection you get and its all you need. It is targetable without any other unit seeing. It is set up be the designer of the scenario for a specific reason. My experience is fixed ground installations, especially air facilities, are known IRL and set for auto-detectable so long range strikes can hit them without risking recon assets. The mobile units were not set as auto-detectable. So an APG-81 will detect that a unit is there, but not anything about the unit. The ASARS has a more limited FOV, but if you move it in the editor so that the base falls into its FOV it will get a solid ID every unit on the island. But the air base units will still say auto-detected because you don't need any detection. The other thing to consider is that to assess damage or housed air units, you most likely need visual ID on all the units. The SR-72 is not going to do that from 90,000 with fog and a cloud layer between it and the observed units. It has an accurate ground radar, but don't think it has the accuracy to detect damage through the clouds. You would have to test if its accurate enough to detect damage through it. You can easily change a few things in the editor if you are obsessed with having the air base units detected through the SR-72. Just go into the editor and change those units to not being auto-detectable. Its kind of unrealistic, but no more than putting the apg-81 radar on an SR-72. btw, not sure why you needed to put the 81 on the SR-72. The ASARS-2 is a much better ground mapping radar. You just need to fly towards the island for bit.
