Yes, I will definitely take the vaccine when I can. I have a family member is a front-line worker (supermarket), and isolating from said person is not an option. I like the odds of a vaccine reaction a lot better than the odds of long-term disability or death from Covid-19. And yes, long-haul effects are real -- I have another family member who is going through them.


I'm going to take it as soon as it's available. I know I won't survive it with my health problems. This isn't a hoax, it's real. As real as the Spanish Flu.

Status: offline 		Look up the 1957–1958 Asian flu pandemic and the Hong Kong flu, also known as the 1968 flu pandemic. See what happened there and what the people, businesses, and governmental entities did. Check the infectious rates and the death rates. There was no panic, no hoarding, et cetera.

I read where half the population in the UK may have an immunity to the COVID-19 virus due to infection from a previous corona virus. Others have an immunity of some sort for other reasons. See what you need to do to keep your immune system working like it should without going into the panic mode. That is probably the best thing that you can do to prevent getting it and if you do get it, to minimize the effects.

Status: offline 		I intend to take the vaccine...........but I will approach it carefully. My situation allows me to comfortably wait a month or so to see what the general response to the vaccine will be before deciding as to whether I will take it. My hope is that it will be the silver bullet everyone is waiting for.

I do understand those who feel there is a bit of a disconnect between what they hear about the virus, and what they experience first hand. For instance, up to today, no one I knew had known anyone who had the virus or who had died from it. Earlier I had a call from a friend in Europe who nervously told me about 4 Seniors on their street who succumbed to the virus last week.

In my view the best plan is to be as cautious and sensible as personnel circumstances allow you to be.

Status: offline 		The reaction is overblown. This is just a fact. It's sad for the people who died and their families. No one contradicts that. But they estimated 606,000 people died from cancer in 2020 and I don't see us ruining our economy for that. And 315,000 is less than 0.1% of our population. Yes, if it is one of your family members or a friend or yourself, stats mean nothing, but the world drives off of stats.

And I'm sure someone will say that cancer for some people is a lot harder to avoid than Covid, but Covid is a virus. We try and avoid the cold and the flu every year but most of us still get a cold and a significant amount still get the flu. Hell, I got the flu shot and still either got the flu or got Covid in February 2020.

And sure. This thread will be locked pretty soon.

There you are incorrect. Cancer can be a communicable disease.

So therefore, you are part of the disinformation. How many people have had their cancer treatments delayed or stopped because of COVID-19? How about other diseases as well? If those who died because of that are factored into the excess death rate due to COVID-19, then those may be referred to COVID-19 deaths when the individuals affected may never have had COVID-19.

If there is a vaccine and its had all the necessary and required sign-offs from the safety point of view then yes, of course I would have the vaccine. Same as I've had all the other vaccines I've been recommended to have during the course of my life. I (or in most cases my parents) did not say no to the those so I am not about to start saying no now, and frankly I don't understand why anyone wouldn't get the vaccine. But that's my personal opinion and each to their own.


Strange times when support for science needs to be stated as a personal opinion.And then typing that I understand why you would say that, even in a well-moderated public forum.
