If the elastic loops that keep the make tight stretch out so the fit is loose but the mask is other fine, twist the elastic so it makes an "X" instead of an "O" and it may fit better. Try just one side first as you don't want it too tight. I told that to a lovely young cashier whose mask was loose. She did it to one side, and it fit better.

My point was, if 10 people are wearing the correct masks, but one person is wearing it incorrectly, then that person can be exposed.
It takes one person to get exposed, and then give it to others when they think they are safe later. Such as back at home.

We have not curbed the spread.
We have been inefficient, ineffective, and the genie is out of the bottle. We missed the moment. Now we have the mess.
If covid had been actually highly lethal, well, we'd be screwed I guess is the point.
It IS killing people. Fortunately it is not Hollywood grade lethal. And we are not in a movie. Zombies are not at the gate.

I'm suspecting, my ordinary routine, of mostly isolated, has done more to protect me, than my mask.
Most wear their mask with marginal enthusiasm.
They might wear it in the store, and remove it when leaving.
Some wear them everywhere. Some only when forced.
I was wearing my mask mainly as a thermal benefit on cold days.
I don't normally worry about efficiently wearing it walking down the street.

The thing is, the virus, doesn't need to play fair. And it couldn't care less about our rights.
You only need to dine in at Burger King once with mask removed while eating to end up catching covid even if decently spaced out.
Once you have it, you have it.
Might not kill you. Might not even bother you. But if you have it, you can pass it along. The next person might not be so lucky.

Some think it's a hoax and they are not even trying to avoid it.
Some are openly uninterested in wearing a mask.
Some are not willing to refrain from gatherings.
It doesn't take many people to spread a virus.
You try your best, and then you meet person that met a person that knows a person that has no interest in cooperating.

And then air filtration is closing the door after the horse has left the barn.

Compared to no one wearing a mask:

Wearing a mask protects you two thirds of the time, so your chance of catching it if it is there is one third of the time. If the chance is spreading it while wearing a mask is the same as catching it, then a mask wearer can spread it one third of the time. Combine the two and you have a one third of a one third chance of catching it if someone wearing a mask has it. That also means wearing it properly. But it boils down to a one ninth chance or a 11% chance of catching it if it is there.

So, considering Blaise Pascal's wager, it is better to wear a mask than to not wear one.

No argument there :)

Drink some wine with your very garlicky bread, followed up by chocolate covered raisins and almonds . . .

Bacteria in your GUT affects your immune response to Covid-19 and could influence how severely you suffer symptoms, study finds

quote:

A person's gut microbiome may play a role in fighting off coronavirus infection and preventing severe Covid-19 symptoms, according to new studies.

Each person has a unique assortment of bacteria in their gut which play a variety of roles, including in modulating the immune response.

Research from the Chinese University of Hong Kong found people suffering with Covid-19 had a 'significantly altered' microbiome composition.

Separate research from South Korea found people with a poorly functioning gut are more likely to develop severe Covid-19 because the lack of healthy microbes makes it easier for the virus to infect cells in the digestive tract.

I don't know what your Dad said but if you read the article you will see why I stated what i did.

Besides, if both of you eat lots of garlic, neither will notice.

Also, for those who are interested, eating lots of garlic keeps those bloodsucking females away.
That is, if they are around.

Restrictions have started to ease in my area. Have the 'numbers' improved that much? Has the vaccine had an effect, real or imagined? Is there some other reason? 'Flu' season is still fully active until at least March, some say April. Some say the vaccine won't have an effect until next fall!

Have your local establishments begun to improve their ventilation systems? In my area some venues have erected large outdoors tented areas for patrons to occupy. I wonder what the thinking is.

So what are your recent experiences in your area?

I read where the "Flu" impact is very low this year. The article also said that next season may be bad because of this.
