How does one go about changing the game play speed from 1-Day to 2-Day turns? Can we, essentially, fast play through slow periods and slow down for high intensity times?

This is my preference screen:

I think it's the Japanese player who can change the turn days.

IIRC.
1.
when you open the game go to settings.

2. then dial the turn marker to two.
3. then complete your one day turn
4. save then send to allied player to complete one day turn.
5. at the begennig of next turn see if you have option for 2 day turn activated by looking in the preferences mmenu of the jap game file.

Argh. Didn't see this before I sent the current turn. OK. Will try with the next one.

Just be careful around a certain time of the month - no, not that! But the time when you have to check/change your research factories. You don't want to accidentally have them go into production instead of researching the next model.

For IJ with realistic RnD this is the biggest challenge with multi-day turns as it is fairly easy to convert an RnD to production when you did not want to. Even without the Realistic RnD, you may miss you chance to control the end of a research cycle.

Playing against the AI, after early '42, I change from 1 day to many day turns pretty quick just to move the game along.

I would suggest that, from the beginning, if multiple day turns are contemplated that non-Realistic R&D be considered with the caveat that only those factories that are to be used for research that accidentally go into production be allowed to convert back to research. That way, there would not be any request for to red a turn.

Having some issues with shifting this over.

This is what I have done: got turn, saved it, run the turn, saved it onto the game file, backed out of the game, come back in and shift the turn changer to TWO DAY, then load the turn, do orders, save and send.

Have done this twice with no luck so far.

What am I getting wrong?

You are doing orders for both days?

I haven't done 2 game turns either but from other posters it sounds like after you input for one day you have to click "finished" to get to the next day's inputs.

How many of you have an actual PRINTED AE Handbook?!!

Just got mine out for the first time in GAWD knows how long and it says on Page 26, Rule 2.5.8 that you can change turn speed with AI games but not PBEM. Is that correct or wrong?

I the thread that BigRed posted above, he says he has done the change in PBEM. Later in that thread someone mentions it must be done after the Combat Replay has been done because that step uses the turn size. See if the thread makes any sense to you.

AFAIK it is Japan that may change the turn days. Don't know what else to say. I can't speak from experience because I've never played PBEM.

Yes, it must be Japan per the other thread. John 3rd is playing as Japan.
