Forget the how you stumble into it. Lottery, or you help a senior and end up inheriting.
The how is not the question.

The what do you do (after the stupid purchases), with it?

I have thought about this notion maaaaany times (it gets easy to get a lit of ideas if you live long enough).

I think I'd mostly say my goodbyes, and end up living like Grizzly Adams.
I absolutely love the movie, love the song in the movie and wish I could just live as simple as he did in the movie.
The only thing preventing me, is lack of capacity to make it work.
But, with 10 million bucks, I'd be able to afford to escape the limiting factors.
I wouldn't NEED to hunt for food.
I'd get someone else to make the simple cabin.

My only worry, is have we left enough wilderness out there to enjoy being truly 'out there'?
I love nature that much.

If I had that much money, I would invest. I also would not have to worry about choosing between a blonde nor a brunette either.

With this money I will create a bank that would lend money to independents to develop wargames for dogs, and also for humans.

Yes, with that kind of money, I'd retire, buy a house for about $150K and invest the rest in several different things with about 5-6 million in money market accounts for just the cash it generates.

I'd probably split up about 1,5 million between my siblings.

I'd buy myself a house and a territory. One for my mother too. I'd fund retirement for my mother and my good uncle. I'd invest a lot probably. I'd also drastically expand my philanthropy.

Think you have a great idea. Although I would settle just outside a small community. With a larger community not all that far away. So that there is a decent hospital within a reasonable distance. Neighbours that I can greet during my walks. A restaurant that I can enter for a delicious meal. And so on.

This.

I would set aside some money (just comfortable nothing more) for my brother and sister and children. The rest would be split into two:

1. The bulk (a minimum of £5m) would be used to form a charity specialising in helping the families of children with life threatening diseases - and also children who's childhood is taken from them because they have to care for sick parents. This would be one on one targeted help.

2. If money allows (I've no idea on the economics) I would want to underwrite someone to program a proper, highly detailed, land, sea and air computer game of the Mediterranean June 1940 - May 1943.

Warspite, have you tried JTS War on the Southern Front 1940-43? I have not just curious as we both share a love for that concept.

The only thing that I would consider giving to my siblings would be a high velocity lead pill so they can have sudden onset, acute lead poisoning.

No I've not seen this. I can't see from the blurb - but a) are there any naval units and b) is there a campaign game or just individual scenarios?

From the blurb it does look like it has campaign games in it. Not sure on the naval.

The naval aspect - so important to the war in that theatre - is usually neglected. Such a shame. A campaign just crying out for it to be properly gamed, but sadly the economics (presumably) means that it will never get properly done.

Can a late war, War in the West game really be that much more economically viable or interesting than a Mediterranean game? The Mediterranean war is so much more interesting, has so much more going on - politically, militarily (naval, air and land) and strategically, has so many different nationalities involved. Unlike the war in the west, the Pacific war - and probably the war in the east - this campaign was truly winnable by either side - so much to explore, so many variables...

Ho hum...

Nope, no little Warspite toy or other little ships to play with in the bath tub . . .

Is there a way to make your own campaign from scenarios with units carrying over from one to the next? With the possibility of reforming some units from replacements/repairs/captured equipment?

Yeah, its like I say (as do others), 'be careful what you wish for, you just might get it'.

I spent enough time in the rough when I was in the military. No wish for that anymore. Made me appreciate my creature comforts.

Besides 10M isn't going to be enough to 'hide' away, unless I'm selfish. I'd have to at least take care of my children and grandkids.

I don't know. I do know that all of the JTS games have an editor, but I have never used them.

I still might bite, NA is where I first learned my ropes in war gaming.

Yes it is. I may still buy it, I am a sucker for North Africa games, always hoping for Xanadu with each purchase.

10,000,000 bucks?
I suppose I'll be eating a hell of a lot of venison and building a house out of antlers and mud.
