Okay, the overall terms are clear:

>>5000 points 100 x200 random map no mines in meeting engaements ( except what engineers lay during the game everything at default C&C off Rareity off - like ammo sgt. said.

i give you 3 map choices here. these are 100x140 and 100x160 maps. i think 100x200 is a little too big. these map sizes will do for only 5k points, or ?

the 3 maps overwrites your map no. 12-13-14 in the map folder ( these were small default maps, so i think no one will miss them ).

everyone interestet in the topic can give his vote which map should be used, not only the players. poll lasts for 1 week !

still 2 open positions by the way:

1 experienced ( no vet ) for GER or US and 1 newbie player for GER.

----------------------------
viking: GER VET
rbrunsman:US VET
frankw: US or GER EXP
sonni: newbie US
----------------------------

how about other things like infiltrators, arty + air limits etc ?? should this be played w/ the option that the US player can have let´s say 5% more arty and 1 more air section than the german player ( if air will be used at all ? ) to simulate the suppority of these weapons for the US ???? 25-30 turns ??

i just read that sonni doesn´t have H2H and can´t d/l it the next time..

so H2H or 7.1 ?

there´s is no hurry btw. we can even wait till ( if ? ) the new SPWAW is out. i

frank

ps: for ppl. who need more info on this look in the "Bazooka Accuracy" thread by Ammo Sgt.

I vote we use v7.1.

I don't like are units because of the free scouting attributed to it.

I thought AmmoSgt said we should play with no restrictions on purchases other than the prelaid mines.

>>vote we use v7.1.

i play either. doesn´t matter for me

>>I don't like are units because of the free scouting attributed to it.

okay. no air then.

>>I thought AmmoSgt said we should play with no restrictions on purchases other than the prelaid mines.

if the other´s agree i agree, too

on the bigger and more open maps it will hopefully be a more tactical game than the "no restrictions slaughter" game i´m playing against vath
:D

viking ? your opinion ? hope you are prepared to give rbrunsmans GI´s a beating ;)

Your other post had me as the Germans. Now you have me as the US. Which is it? I don't care.

I just finished my H2Hfr download, I only have to figure out how I'll get it to my computer at home (I am visiting my parents house and am abusing their connection :) )

I'll propably have to burn it on CD or something. Anyway I'm now ok for both H2H and 7.1.

I thought that the idea was to allow everyone to use their points as they like, so I vote for this. No air though.

I'd like to apply for the open German Newbie position. My vote would be for v7.1 rather than H2H, but I could do either. Just lemme know what to do :)

I'm interested.

What is the battle date?

I can only play 7.1.

With only 5,000 points I'd prefer the smallest of the maps.

okay. closed !

this will be the games:

vets: viking ( ger ) vs. rb

exp: frank w. vs. krec
( which side do you want, krec ? )

newbies: maniacalmonkey ( ger ) vs. sonni

terms should be clear, too:

map that get´s most votes
good vis.
good weather
rarity off
no air
no buying restrictions
command off
no prelaid mines

it seems most ppl. favor 7.1 before
H2H - perhaps we have luck and
the new update will be there in a
few days (?) so we can use this to
make shure all have the same oob +
version.

players should contact each other to
swap e-mail adresses..

have a nice weekend, gents and
prepare for battle.

hello vahauser:

we can of course make a 4th battle.
that would be good, if we want to
get a kind of winner of the contest.
so the winners ( if not draws ) of the 4 battles play another match ( but than with the other side ! ).

and the winners of these play for the AMMO SGT CHAMP title !!

in which category do you will fit, mr. vahauser ??

just select + vote the map you like most !

date ? juli or aug 44 ?
length of battle ? 25- 30 turns ?

bye

f.

25 turns should suffice for the pride of the Fatherland to kick the stinking Yanks out of the Reich :D

I'll get in touch with Sonni right after I'm done polishing my Iron Cross.

Frank; I tested the map (#3) and it seems that troops are falling back in the wrong direction (ie. towards the enemy!). Are you sure you've set it up right?

yep. noticed this , too.

it´s not my fault the game does this.

the default should be US on the left + Ger on the right side. sometimes the game changes this and even set´s the reeinforcement + retreat hexes on the wrong side.

must try something out.........

it seems pbm´s don´t work right with
pre designed maps.
if no one knows a solution to this we must
use normal random maps. these should be 100x140 or 100x160 similar to ones i posted. that´s means quite open maps with space to manouver... but i thinkt he game selects quite good maps for france 44 battles.

let´s start this !

i hope the other players are in conatct already ?

pls. post if you are ready !

i will then make a 1st post for every pair in the DAR/AAR section where the players report the going of the games.

I e-mailed Sonni and eagerly await the start of the slaughter!

Wait...

Why are my company CO's trying to sneak out the back door?

I think there was some solution with the retreat hex issue, I searched the posts about this and this is what I came up with:

Originally posted by Antonius:
Have run a serie of tests buliding random battles using a custom map: whenever I set the battle in the same MONTH as the one that was selected in the scen editor when I edited the map, I got the retreat and reinforcement hex where I had placed them.
So I think we should try this, and not use the generic maps that are too open.

Btw. what's the agreement on reinforcements? Allowed or not, and if allowed, which turn can they be requested?

Manicalmonkey: got your mail, my hotmail had put it in the junkmail folder so I didn't notice it at first.

I'll set it up on august 44, is vis 25 good enough?

EDIT: I also read that the nations should be the same in the editor screen and in the battle setup. I'll check this tonight.

I think the idea was to use large, open maps? We should then use a random big one, they tend to have fairly open fields - or try to get Frank's 100x160 one operational.

Let's first try to fix Franks 100X160 map, those generated ones look like seas of land with a tree density of 1 tree per squarekilometer, and that is hardly enough cover for any flanking movement that was the original purpose of the using of these large maps.

Agreed, Frank's map has some very nice options for all kinds of neat tactical manoeuvres. I've been messing around with the setup, would it be an option to use "Random Start"? I assume the game will properly link reinforcement/retreat hexes to the random start locations?

If random starts help then I have nothing against it. Have you tried to change the nations and time setting in the editor? Are you familiar in editing the maps? Anyway I'll try to fix it tonight and let's see how it turns out then.

All participants: What's the agreement on reinforcement points? I vote that reinforcements are allowed and can be requested from turn 10. What do you think?

Well, I can fix the map without trouble, but the Editor doesn't seem to let me save it as a map (only as a scenario). Can I simply rename the scenario files to map ones?

PS: I could also name some of the major terrain features, that might help make the DAR's a bit easier to write and comprehend, for instance "Hill 112" instead of "The hill just East of the river in the north-western part of the map..." you get the idea :)

You can save the map by pressing E in the mapeditor. there is also a button on the right panel with a disk icon on it.

Naming the hills is a great idea :)

OK, I think I've fixed the map. Use this one as 5000 pts. GER (left) vs US (right), august '44. Vis 25, 30 turns, Weather 1. I've tested it and it should be OK.

I numbered the hills, attached letters to road interstections (IS "A", IS "B", etc.), and named the major forest areas. When writing your DAR's, you should never be far from a named feature so people know what you've doing :)

Everyone ready to rumble?

hi !

took a look at your map.

nice ! esp. the names "monkeyville" :D

there is a good change that this will work!

reeinforcements turn 10 seems okay.
>>>august '44. Vis 25, 30 turns, Weather 1

this is okay, too !

mmhh.. sadly my planned opp. doesn´t react. so i must find a new one.

but the newbie game + the vet game can start. i post 2 threads in the DAR section there you can continue then !

ps: shouldn´t the US be on the left side ?

ManicalMonkey: Now that Germany is on the left side i think you should then be player 1. That's ok with me, can you make the setup and your purchase and then send it over to me?

Looking forward playing this one :)
