Turn 17. May/June 1942. Allied #3. (Continued). 2/23/21, 2:54 PM - [Allied]: Again, my naval impulses wouldn't take so long if you'd just leave my convoys alone. Last turn you sank another 10 CPs! I haven't been keeping track of how many CPs total you've sunk this game. Do you have the number? If not, I've got the data so we can calculated it (later on that is). 2/23/21, 2:55 PM - [Allied]: By the PM Churchill is dancing a jig, smoking a cigar and going through a bottle of whiskey now that the US is at war with Germany and Italy. 2/23/21, 2:56 PM - [Axis]: lol, I bet he is 2/23/21, 2:57 PM - [Axis]: I won't be let down. I'm sure it's pretty creative 2/23/21, 2:57 PM - [Allied]: Anyone ever tell you that it's exhaustive playing against you. Has been from the very start! 2/23/21, 2:58 PM - [Axis]: lol 2/23/21, 2:58 PM - [Axis]: Not really. But I do challenge the Allies to prove their mastery. The Axis will fight to the bitter end even if the tide turns 2/23/21, 2:59 PM - [Allied]: Where in the heck is that tide! 2/23/21, 3:01 PM - [Allied]: As the axis, that's my philosophy too. Not in MWiF but in other ww2 games (CEaW-GS) I have face opponents as the allies that resigned as soon as I got the initiative around '43/'44.. That's frustrating because you take it on the chin up to that point and finally you get to go on the offensive and your opponent resigns. 2/23/21, 3:02 PM - [Axis]: I know...unsportsmanlike 2/23/21, 3:02 PM - [Allied]: My philosophy as the axis player is that if you should play it out as long as the allied player wishes to continue. 2/23/21, 3:05 PM - [Allied]: As the allied player I will try to play to the unless things are so hopeless and the axis player is willing to stop too. I also think it's poor form for the allied player to quit when the axis is about to pull off something spectacular. If it's to the point though of continuing to grind down into the ground an already beaten opponent then that's something else. 2/23/21, 3:07 PM - [Axis]: Of course 2/23/21, 3:07 PM - [Allied]: As the axis in that case, which I'm really am, I will ask the allied player if he wants to concede. Usually it's the other way around. Where my axis opponent finally takes pitty on me and asks if I'd like to stop. Until then, as the allied player, I will continue as long as there's still something interesting in the game. 2/23/21, 3:08 PM - [Axis]: Same here 2/23/21, 4:00 PM - [Allied]: There were two parts of my aggressive plan. One in France/North Sea and the other in the Med. That second part was a rescue attempt of Wavell's HQ-A. However, after working through the moves I decided the assets at risk were too much given what could be saved. So I've decided to scrap the naval moves I've made so far and start over. Sorry. However, what I have planned for France/North Sea is still in play and won't be scrapped. Just the rescue. So, I'm going to take a break for a while, almost dinner time, and start my naval moves over. Might not be until tomorrow before I finish everything because of all the convoy/production fixes I need to make too. 2/23/21, 4:02 PM - [Axis]: Sure, no worries. Take as much time as you need. Days if need be 2/24/21, 2:24 PM - [Allied]: Afternoon! Phew, just got back from running across town to take care of 3 or 4 errands. 2/24/21, 2:25 PM - [Allied]: Still need to take care a few more things but after that will get back to fixing my convoy lines and moving my CW & USN naval units. 2/24/21, 2:25 PM - [Axis]: sure 2/24/21, 2:26 PM - [Allied]: I think Nimitz had someone to take care of his mundane errands but unfortunately even though I'm in command of 5 major powers I still have to take care of mine and my wife's. 2/24/21, 2:26 PM - [Allied]: And Nimitz was only in command of the USN Pacific fleet! 2/24/21, 2:26 PM - [Axis]: I understand that perfectly 2/24/21, 2:46 PM - [Allied]: You being a former tank command I'm reading a book that you may find extremely interesting. I picked it up for my nook for only $3. 2/24/21, 2:46 PM - [Axis]: What is it? 2/24/21, 2:47 PM - [Allied]: "Spearhead. An American Tank Gunner, His Enemy, and a Collision of Lives In World War II" by Adam Makos. 2/24/21, 2:47 PM - [Axis]: Cool, will check it out 2/24/21, 2:48 PM - [Allied]: I think it was published around 2019. Can't believe I was able to pick it up (from Barnes & Noble) for only $3! 2/24/21, 3:08 PM - [Allied]: You've should have seen the staff meetings and heated arguments over what should be done in the Med. I listen to both sides, really three sides, and have made my decision. Right or wrong this is the way it's to be for the foreseeable future., 2/24/21, 3:17 PM - [Allied]: By my count you have 14 German U-boat flotillas and 6 Italian sub groups in play. That's 20 sub units! 2/24/21, 3:18 PM - [Allied]: And still you managed to beat the RN in the Med and take the Suez! 2/24/21, 3:19 PM - [Allied]: There's some cleaning house needed at the British Admiralty. 2/24/21, 3:23 PM - [Axis]: The Germans and Italians coordinated exceedingly well during this campaign. It's probably the best I've ever executed this Submarine strategy combined with air power in the med 2/24/21, 3:23 PM - [Axis]: Something was bound to break for the Commonwealth 2/24/21, 3:24 PM - [Axis]: Everything I've read is that the battle of the Atlantic was a very near run thing and the Commonwealth was fortunate to win it 2/24/21, 3:24 PM - [Allied]: You've definitely have put on a clinic. Very impressive even on the receiving end of all this. 2/24/21, 4:22 PM - [Allied]: Well I've finally got production back. Still need to send out ASW escorts, patrols, task forces for Operation Jubliee, Pacific task forces and excess CP RTBs. 2/24/21, 4:23 PM - [Allied]: But it's that time of day. Dinner and cocktails. 2/24/21, 4:40 PM - [Allied]: <Media omitted> 2/24/21, 4:42 PM - [Allied]: Total number of Atlantic convoys at risk is 48 of the 67 that can be reached by Euro-Axis subs. That's 71.6%! You're killing me!
