I'm wondering how do we know at what experience level a unit which we build is going to arrive at?

And how do we know when/how that number changes - ie in the USSR the default build experience increases as the game goes along. When? By how much? Why?

A unit will be built with the National Experience level of the turn in which is built. Inf the national experience of that country changes in the next turn, thye units in the production queue are unnafected.
The National experiene level of countries under 50% will increase due their units taking part in combats...no clue about how much per combat, but the mor eyou figth, the quicker it raises.
The Natioanl experience level of all countries will decrease as soon as that country will have less that 50% manpower avalaible. Tha decrease will be nullified as sonn as the manpower pool will raisde up to at least the 50%.

Thanks for this - where do we see the national experience level for each country?

And is the only way to increase national experience through fighting battles?

Could Alvaro throw some light on that mechanic?

You can see the national experience in the build screen where you build units. It is part of the units characteristics such as logistics etc. The national experience of a country can also vary between its naval, land and air force. For example, UK's naval units have 60, but air and land units have 50.

As far as I know it is only combat that can can improve the national experience. Same for units, but they can also go up or down with reinforcements.
