I noticed that one side and two sides fortifications both took 70 days to complete by engineers while 3 sides are 105 days and four sides 140 days. Was that intended (maybe to avoid spamming one side fortifications every 35 days) ?

Thanks in advance for any answer ;) .

Most likely. Didn't want fortifications to be too easy.

Hello,
while we talk about the fortifications!
Why can't we fortify a city?
it's not very real!

Hi Dazo,

It has been so long, I believe that part of the code might have even been set more than 10 years ago going all the way back to SC2, I honestly don't remember at this point. Maybe?

Hubert

This is the same in that I really don't remember at this point, it has been so long, I believe it might have just been an issue with how strong could cities become (maybe they became too difficult) and if it just made better in game sense to fortify just outside the city to simulate the difficulty in finally capturing city locations.

Essentially, if this were allowed we would have to then readjust the defense bonuses for urban areas downwards because the ability of troops to fortify their own positions in towns and cities is already factored into the game.

Fortifications built by Engineers are really there to improve your positions between urban areas.
