I would prefer some news on Steel Tigers first...

So, Wodin, have you any judgement on WiTE2 yet?

Orm, the big grand strategy games are beyond me to be honest. I think it will be superb and one of the best wargames in that scale. I'm just hoping we see the same levels of detail and depth in Steel Tigers. I'd be very very happy if that's so.

At one point I think 2by3 were talking about doing a Med game and eventually integrating it all into a mega game but I can't find the post now. No idea if that's still on the table or not.

How old is Gary now?

If he started his war game career immediately after college that would put him in his mid 60s.

Turn the blood into sausage and then eat it. If you want to, you might even cook it first.

As I'm getting to understand it, some don't worship at the altar of War in the East/West. Even going so far to suggest the design isn't all it claims to be.

I'm not one of those, but I'm unsure if I need WitE2. As I see it, if the original is all the fans want to claim it to be, then 2 isn't a dramatic enough change if you already have the original.

Can't have it both ways eh.

Now Gary must be getting a bit worn out regardless. So I'm thinking Steel Tigers or a Med game or whatever, maybe he's had his day and someone else will take over for him.
But he's only a couple of years past me likely. I'm not slowing that much myself :)

But I think he'd be wise to put his time on Steel Tigers, or there might be a revolt :)

I don't know. I haven't WitE2 so I can't comment, but if you truly are a fan of the original and the new game both deepens and improves it then Christmas arrived early this year. Some people are delirious down there.

This is what happened, for example, with War in the Pacific and War in the Pacific: AE, to be clear.

One thing that I envy in some people is how they are happy to focus on one game and get the most out of it. Being interested in everything, I often feel like I take a morsel from a lot of things I paid full price for.

I have to agree with warspite on this one. The WWII series are not complete without a Mediterranean theatre. Secondary or not, it is irrelevant imo. After all, what are the three classic turning points in WWII? Year '42 (in chronological order): Midway, Alamein and Stalingrad. The Pacific and Europe are already covered, we just need the third theatre.

One might want to consider combining Midway with Guadalcanal. Midway stopped the Japanese Navy while Guadalcanal started the reversal. That is what the other two places did for the European theatre area of operations.

Yes, but the crucial point was the annihilation of the Japanese naval air personnel. An irreplaceable elite more important than the 4 hulls of the sunk CVs. The campaign in the Solomons or first counter-offensive was the consequence of that turning point or Midway.

WitE2 has improved the management of the mighty Stavka's Strategic Reserves (the interesting part of the Great Patriotic War to me, like handling the logistics in WitP AE). No need to concentrate your massive reserve armies near the Urals

Now, to grasp the air war and let's find a German victim The Red Army is coming.

You really should not post links to something of a political nature like that.

The problem is that some of these people apparently don't have the brains that HE gave an Equus Asinius.

These are probably the type of people who have had no such training or experience in such matters and only go by games.

They are also probably the people who think that factories "make" the eggs that you would buy in a store and do not realize that they come from a hen's backside.

Wouldn't it be awesome if the US could march like that?

Nice marching is a requirement if you join the army in a dictatorship. The Germans in WW2. North Koreans. China. They all look really great in a parade.

I'll put my hands up to a sense of humour fail here but I'd gently suggest that the US Marines that fought at Fallujah would most likely attest that despite the use of WP their mission in clearing the city was somewhat more complex and costly in terms of wounded and dead than simply using "a broom to sweep up the ashes".
