Reading Greyjoy's fantastic AAR about his game with Rader, and am now reading up on the years 1944-45.
(Highly recommend EVERYONE read this AAR, it is classic literature, on par with Hemingway).

Two issues in that AAR came to fore:
1) Once a certain number of bombers and their escorts is reached, the bombers will ALWAYS get through. The defender CAP can have an unlimited number of fighters on CAP, 1000 fighters on 100% CAP setting, it did not matter, the bombers past certain number (if there is more than 500 bombers and say 100 escord fighters) will ALWAYS get through.

It looked like game engine limitation - past a certain number of CAP attacks, game imposed a hard limit on CAP attacks, no matter how many CAP fighters were set to fly.


2) The Japanese ASW escort ships (forgive me for forgetting the exact type, "E" something?) were ridiculous, simply put Allied subs were 100% ineffective and dying in droves. Total massacre of Allied subs in 1944+.


Did these two issues get fixed?

Super E's were fixed - so long as you are using the Andy Mac "Patch 07" AI and database updates (or later).

As for massed bombing, well opinions vary.

I do believe that the CAP issue was fixed as well.

Correct. The original coding only allowed for 500 intercepts of bombers or enemy fighters. That number was boosted substantially and the CAP became more historically effective again - only a few leakers get through.
