Will the game use historic weather for each day/region or will there be a random option? It would be nice for a "what if"-setting but also for replay value.

I believe Vic said in an interview that random weather would be an option.

thats right you can choose between 'historical', 'random' and 'bad weather'.

best,
Vic

Great. I am intrigued by the design of this game from what I've heard/seen so far, and this was an important point for me. Looking forward to taking the game for a spin :)

Same for me, the design of the game intrigues me so much too.

Hi, i think using historical weather data has one big advantage over randomly generating weather in that it actually allows you to have some chance of predicting likely changes if you can track changes in pressure, wind direction, wind speed, cloud cover, and precipitation at any given moment. location. While this doesn't matter much to most wargames, it does matter a lot to one genre - naval wargames in the sailing era. Players who know something about the weather will have a huge advantage over those who don't. As such, these players are clearly senior captains. In a naval or air campaign of the XX-XXI centuries, you will actually have a weather forecast and you will know with some accuracy how the weather will develop over the next five days or so. In the event of World War II, the Allies would have a huge advantage here, with a 5-day bad weather warning, while the Germans would only have a day or two.

These weather choices are clear, but please consider adding a historical variant, a daily “chance/percentage” of being better or worse than historical.
This would allow for a bandwidth that’s close to historical - a precondition for the battle - yet with a variable factor that’s not completely random and improves replay.
