looking at Oz at the moment and getting a lot of fuel arriving in Perth from both Capetown and Abadan TFs. I want to get it round to the east coast. I was looking at offloading it at Sydney. When I do the Hotkey 5 , it shows that supplies from Sydney to Brisbane are in the 91% range. Is this the same as for Fuel or do I have to actually ship it there? I do realise that supply will leak out to neighbouring areas if supply is 2x required +100. Is it the same for fuel?
And the same question for oil. I have discovered that Chiitagong has a huge fuel surplus, not because I shipped that much in. I suspect it is because Ledo has oil and it is being shipped to Chittagong, which IIRC has a refinery, thus producing fuel, which now is almost as much as Abadan. seems strange to be able to ship fuel west instead of east. Hence the question. Do land lines of communication move fuel as well as supplies?

Fuel does not get penalized for movement like supply. All of it will eventually find its way to Sydney, the largest port on this landmass. Same with Chittagong in relation to India if you built it up to be the largest

Okay
it will move to Sydney. But do I then have to ship fuel from Sydney to Brisbane or Townsville or does it move out on the supplylines by itself?

Do it either way that you want.

Two things to understand about supply/resources and fuel/oil movment:

1. They will move over land to where the demand is - distance, terrain and transport facilities permitting.
2. Amounts in excess of demand (averaged over a week) will accumulate at the biggest port or biggest base.

All things flow to where the demand is.

If you want to increase flow, increase demand.

The short answer is "no" (you do not need to move the supply) and "yes" (it will move itself . . . within limits).

Fuel your ship at Brisbane. Brisbane will then requisition more fuel from Sydney automatically.

In its requisition, it will not only replace the fuel that was taken. It will try to anticipate future demand and requisition enough fuel to cover it as well - assuming that Sydney has a sufficient surplus it can spare.

However, if you intend to unexpectedly fuel a huge task force in Brisbane . . . it may not have enough fuel. It uses past demand to anticipate future demand, so the huge task force was not anticipated. Brisbane will requisition more fuel from Sydney, but it may take a couple of days to get there.

Later, when you quit fueling so many ships at Brisbane and refuel them at Townsend instead, Brisbane will reduce its requisitions of fuel from Sydney and Townsend will increase its requisitions.

Alfred has explained this quite recently to someone . . .

I really really hate the Search engine on this forum. I entered Fuel and Alfred= no posts listed. I entered fuel supplies and Alfred and again no posts listed. I expanded it to all posts by Alfred on fuel and again no posts listed. Surely a simple term like Fuel should attract hundreds of posts as I am sure there have been others before me who are puzzled about how fuel is handled.
If someone tells me to search the forum without telling me what the search terms should be, I may take to drink. it wouldn't be a large step, though.

Use google, not the forum search function

Use this : ' site:www.matrixgames.com fuel alfred ' for example. Without the quotes Result

One thing that took me a while to understand my first few games: The fuel disappeared. It turned out that the Australian Heavy Industry was rapidly consuming all the Fuel on the continent. You can turn it off.

Don't turn off AUS HI. You need the supply.

Simple, just ship fuel (lots of it), from US West Coast, Panama, Cape Town.

Of course, but like you mentioned in a previous post last week: Tankers are quite hard to come by in the beginning, whereas there are already so many xAK's. In the beginning it is easier to ship supplies than fuel.

Ship both.

You only need to assign 8-10 T2-SE tankers to ferry fuel to Australia, to have more than needed for the industry, and building a small surplus. One of those big TK loads enough fuel for a week of Australia’s HI, and the round trip takes two months, or slightly more if doing a more roundabout route.

You can ship fuel with xAKs, just not as efficiently.

Australia requires 67,500 tons of fuel per month for it's Heavy Industry. That's not very much for the Allies to be able to easily exceed every month to build a huge stockpile in Oz. I recommend leaving the HI turned on.

And even from Abadan to Perth if the IJN is not interdicting the IO.

At first, drain the DEI of fuel, then maybe oil if the fuel is drained. That will give you enough fuel until you can ship it in. Build a large stockpile for fleet actions later. Do not forget Auckland either.

Thanks Guys.
I would have thought the Forum search engine was the way to go but the suggestion I try google seems to work much better.
I hope my Google skills turn out to be better than the Forum search engine skills. It might cut down on my posts to the forum about matters that everyone but me seems to know.
regards
