This game has been really super. I am speaking from the viewpoint of a single player who will only play vs the AI, never multi-player. I enjoy it very, very much. Well done, interesting and the AI is adequate. The implementation of air forces has been interesting. I cannot say it has added much to the game, but it has not broken it that I can tell, so far. I have not seen the AI make any meaningful use of air forces.

However, as the game is headed towards adding navies...

Speaking as a 64 year old gamer, I have never yet seen a PC game that failed to implode the AI with the implementation of naval forces and invasions. They just cannot be made handle it, offensively or defensively. Maybe Vic will be the first to do so in Shadow Empire. I implore Vic to do as he has done with air forces and make naval forces an option in the game set-up. For people playing multi-player I understand that air and naval forces are cool,useful and enriching. But I would be devastated if adding naval forces wrecked the single player experience.

Vic hands out special rules to the AI like Candy. It is a large part why the AI seems to work so well - they play a different game. And he is pretty open about it, even having it in the manual.

And a lot about making Navy viable is designing it to be viable for the AI.

I did have some ideas on the mater, maybe they help a bit in that regard, particulary about resusing Aircraft ideas:
