I had an idea for partisans, as is they seem a little dry and ineffective, First off Yugoslavia, and Poland should definitively have some, LOTS! but in general what if they gained strength points every turn. (not a coder so not sure if that would be to hard) also seems like they should get something for retaking towns, either another unit would spawn or they would get supplies? Ideas

OR a chance to gain.

There was one game I used to play that if a partisan made it to "allied" territory they got upgraded some how.
I believe it was mainly in the USSR that this could happen.

I'm not sure about that seems like the point of partisans is to disrupt behind the lines not run for the front, that seems a little goofy

Too much distraction. My preference? Leave it as is.

Agreed...partisans are there to disrupt lines.

BUT in Russia...many armies are dispersed and many of the partisans would be ex-army.

Honestly if they got a random point upgrade to their str that would be fine and have little distraction. You have to get rid of them anyways.

I also like the current system, although you can always adjust something.

suspect this is a new thread...but this is about partisans...so here i post.
The creation of partisans appears random and perhaps effective for only one turn at a time.
ok...so i have only played Germany till Jul 18 1941 .
How or Can one control the creation of partisans. I note 4 references to partisans in the manual.
They can not be created in the hex where a unit exists...nor the surrounding hexes of a corps. I seem
to see need for a LOT of corp doing nothing but partisan control.
I sense i am missing something...but am discouraged from playing the game till i can get a handle on
understanding the control, influence and effect of partisans.

Regarding partisans, Yugo is too quiet. Other than that, it is fine for me.

Maybe some of the more experienced players can post about anti-partisan strategies in the USSR... is there actually any way to stop saboteurs? They sabotage rail everywhere, and there's no possible way to secure the entire length of a rail line given that units only deter them in a 1-hex radius.

Do you just accept that every so often your units will go out of supply from partisan attacks?

I don't accept but I try to prevent. The key is to secure the rail lines.

What I am doing is sending PP to Hungary and to Romania. The goal is to buy plenty of infantry divisions with their manpower.
And I place all these divisions on rail lines at about 5 hexes interval.

This will reduce the partisan activity.

I just ensure that every hex has coverage but not double coverage. I place my divisions about 9 or 10 hexes apart. This way I maximise units I can have elsewhere.

This is what I don't get.... Units only block saboteurs in adjacent hexes, right? So if the RNG gods are against you and saboteurs double-team the rail lines, they're still blocked. You'd have to increase the unit density and it doesn't seem there's any way to even replicate your density across the entire USSR.

I have never faced a situation where all the rail lines are cut at the same time. With this setup, I have one or two hexes damaged but no more.

Against the AI I have had it happen to me in the Caucasus with the lines running north from Persia... but the network is less dense there so it's easy for two saboteurs to cut the lines.
