T24 AGS:

The Rumanian General Ion Antonescu is confident and proud of his soldiers after their capture of the impregnable fortress ports of Odessa and Sevastopol. Rumanians have sent a corps across the Kerch Straits after finding no enemy soldiers guarding the other side. A panzer corps is being rushed to the area to help explore how far the penetration may be able to go. They will continue to rely on ports for their supplies. The 1st PG also is clearing more area around Kursk and Kharkov for buffer space against a Soviet offensive.

T24 Soviet Garrison:

The garrison is now at 155% due to refitting the units assigned to it. We like to think that this is good news for our supply net.

T25 Soviet Attacks:

The Soviet Winter Offensive is on. 54 attacks giving 21 Retreats and 33 Holds. I have one regiment in 16th Army that is now DEPLETED. The attacks were all across the front with some concentrations in the Moscow, Kursk, and Kharkov areas.

19th and 9th Armies could use help. That is where two FBDs are trying to do so.

11th Army needs some help. 17th Army is being supplied well but it could use more than just Kharkov doing it.

T25 Air Phase:

Everything is still turned off and probably will be through the winter months. I am considering sending much of the LW to the Reserves which would also lighten my logistics load.

16th Army is actually beginning to recover some. 11th Army is now the most critical. 9th Army actually got more than needed!

One more hex captured in the Leningrad pocket. One more and the 4th PG will be linked to the Finns and isolate Leningrad. 16th Army adjusts some of its line to have a better chance for supply.

von Bock was dismissed for his failure to capture Moscow. Mostly static front as I rotate some units out. The 9th Army sent a corps to help 2nd PG keep the line firm.

T25 AGS:

Some attacking on exposed Soviet units buying some time and space near Kharkov and the Dnepr River bend. The Rumanians are celebrating on both sides of the Sea of Azoz as they rout back a Soviet thrust on the north shore while their crossing of the Kerch Strait ended up routing two Soviet divisions.

I did send the LW to the Reserve this turn not leaving any air units on the map. I am not sure that was wise but I am not really using them at this time and the operational losses against Soviet forays are not worth it.

It really hurts to see the Soviets at 4.5M men. Between the bad weather and the 500K call up I just have not been able to keep their manpower down. Their winter offensive is going to hurt.

I guess I can console myself with the 3.6M Soviets that I have taken out of the war. Obviously it is not nearly enough.

T25 Air Losses:

The LW has lost 4K planes. This is a good portion of why I sent the LW on vacation. The Soviets have lost 14K so that is a bit cheerful. I will also note that I am playing the Soviet AI at 110 so the VVS is quite a bit tougher than a Human vs Human game. That additional 10% effectiveness really shows in the air.

T25 Production:

316K in the German manpower pool. They are needed at the front but so are the supplies. The fighter pool is growing and I want it to grow further for my 42 offensive. My truck pool is at 9K, not great but better than a few games I have played.

T25 Rail Net North:

Note that the hard to supply area has shrunk with the freeze and before the snow really starts to build up. 16th Army is about the worse situation but the northern line of 9th Army is too.

I took the time this turn to reset depot priorities. Essentially just about every depot in the rear (> 10 hexes to the front) is now a 1 unless it has a railyard of 2 or higher and/or a major rail junction. My main depots are now 2 if there is another main depot between it and the front and 3 if it is the closest main depot (i.e. railyard > 2). This should ship some freight easier to the front over the next few turns and maybe give me a boost to January.

T25 Rail Net South:

You can see the improvements in the rear north-south rails in the last five turns from my ersatz rail unit repairs. The FBDs will be kept busy through the winter improving the rail net in preparation for the 42 offensive.

T25 VPs:

The VPs are now at 593. More than good enough to continue the war into 42. I have only 157 VPs to go for Sudden Victory in 42. 36 VPs should fall to me in Leningrad early in 42. That will leave another 121 VPs to find elsewhere. The Moscow - Tula - Orel group would be 92 of them so I will still have to perform an offensive in the south.

T26 Soviet Attacks:

86 Soviet attacks result in 5 Routs, 31 Retreats, and 49 Holds. This is not looking good. Almost every hex in the front line in AGN is attacked along with the 2nd PG line near Moscow, the Kharkov area, and 11th Army and Rumanians in the south. Some hexes suffered as many as 4 attacks. The wonderous abilities of the AI.

I just noticed something that I forgot to do. I SHOULD have built some fortification units in the cities that I wanted to hold. I warned everyone that I was rusty at this point in the game . . .

T26 Supply Net North:

The good news is that the 16th Army is now in a better supply situation. The bad news is that the defensive line is pretty sparse. The rest of the front looks relatively good.

T26 Supply Net South:

The supply net here is improving. The Crimea is now relying more on rails than port supplies now. 11th Army is still suffering but that should be fixed in the next turn or two. The troops should be getting the supplies they need now but what they need is some rest and refitting to get back to strength.

T26 Air Phase:

Nothing happens as the Axis air is now entirely into the Reserves. The Soviets do not fly either.

T26 Freight:

The Panzer Armies are getting enough supplies. The infantry armies, on the other hand, are not. The 18th Army appears to be the worse this turn but the rail heads are getting every turn. The 11th Army is also still hurting. The 16th and 9th Armies are both recovering quickly.

T26 AGN:

18th Army goes out of Assault mode so it can dig in. The advanced hex from last turn was thrown back. 18th Army is rushing to relieve as much of 16th Army that it can so 16th Army can start to recover from last turns attacks. Both routs were in this area.

Movement and adjustment as I take the worse units out of the line and try to rest and refit them. 2nd and 3rd PA are still in Assault mode which leaves the largest part of this line with a max fort level of 1. I will wait one more turn before making that decision (which I may kick myself for postponing).

T26 AGS:

Rebuild, restructure, rotate out the bad for better, and some selected counter attacks to cause some Soviet casualties. A panzer corps is sent to help out the Rumanians across the Kerch Straits. This would be a good base for the 42 offensive but I am not sure it is worth it at this moment. I can play a bit for time and also to force the AI into sending more forces down here. That is the thought anyways.
