There are of course limitations in games. No smell of death, no lack of sleep, no stress from days of constant fear. No living in a hole in the ground in whatever weather was happening.

From what I read in certain forums, some gamers actually live just like that.

I don't need to read certain forums to know about it

I have experienced lack of sleep for playing Sid Meier's Civilization when the game was (almost) new (60 Hz monitor is torture to the eyes), for piecing together WH40k models, and most recently for playing Advanced Tactics Gold. If one wants to experience that in a hole in the ground, just take tablet or handheld along and dig the damn thing. Actually playing a board/miniature game in a hole could be preferred with strong wind going, though I don't want to try it.

Back in the days when Silent Hunter III had been just released, on Subsims' forum there was this guy who played the game strictly 1:1. Eating, WC time and even sleeping were tied to the game. He actually slept with his headphones on, so to be warned if something happened.

IIRC, this went on (if true) for about three months, then the guy went dark. I think he is currently drawing submarines, with rounded crayons, on the walls of a padded room...

"Hardcore" isn't what I would call it.

LOL

I imagine my leaving room plenty of situation maps when Steel Tigers will be out. My wife will be pleased.
Really hope C2 is well simulated in Steel Tigers with delaying orders.

There is a type of clock from Germany that describes people like him every half an hour.
