Turn 5

Units watching the front in Regiments. 4th Army is heading North East as quickly as possible. FBD is heading North East as fast as possible after linking the Brest-Minsk-Vilnius Railroad. Currently FBD is under the Army Group Center HQ

Turn 5

LVI Corps from 4th Panzer redeployed to Vitsbeck area close to depot. Fuel levels shown by color on them. (18th PZ was traded in from Center after refitting here for two turns. 18th PZ is close to full TOE. I regularly pull off a PZ division now for Refit along with a Moto Division and rotate the cycle to keep some fresh)

Watch in Belorussia

Set up Regiments in defense to use horse drawn supply to save on trucks. Is it worth it? Don't know yet but figured it would be fun to try it out ;-)

Turn 5 Beginning of turn (real time)

South

Lots of attacks & all pockets hold. I really liked Gunnulfs defense in the North from turn 4. Going to have to use something like that in the future I think. You pretty much have to deal with it as a German or bypass and run forward. Which you really don't want to do because you want the dual track. With all those heavy pipe hitters I decide to just deal with for the dual track. That defense has to hold this turn to hold up future progress though to make it worth it.

Fuel colors shown on counters.

Thanks for the AAR. At your leisure can we get a zoomed out view of the whole front from time to time.

Thank you and sure, here you go. Will be in two parts since I play at a lower resolution. Here is the northern section of the battlefield

First I would like to say thanks for the AAR, and the other AAR's that you are doing! I am curious as to why you stoped your infantry in AGC? Why not push into free terrain so that when you eventually rotate panzers south from leningrad they will be close to the enemy defence?

You are welcome. Saving a few trucks here and there for awhile. I have no FBD that is converting in front of them and the farther they go from a depot the more strain on the trucks. So I set them within 3 hexes of a depot to use the horse drawn supply. When I get a free FBD, which should be in about 4 turns then they will start advancing. Hope it is not too late but I really don't think so, but could be to late for sure.

Sorry, I meant no Axis Airfield bombing on T1. I got Kirov and still lost but it was a very unusal game and I think we switched to playing outrageously just for fun.

Oh, I see. No airfield bombing on turn 1 for Germans is what I will be doing turn 1 and just let cap do its thing. If house ruled out I will just make Air Superiority missions and do the same thing, lol. If that is ruled out I will just bomb the airfields and take a few pilot less losses for the Soviets ;-P it all boils down to how engaged you can get the Soviet airforce after the opening. Most Soviets have a few turns lull thus able to recover quickly. If you rush Leningrad with this then the Soviets will be hard pressed not to use their airforce.

You got Kirov you say? DAMN!

Leningrad

Well couldn't get the PZ's and Moto's off the line :( I was able to get 2 of the 3 ports and the last port is in ZoC.

Estimation is over 20+ Divisions trapped in Leningrad.

Smolensk

9th and 4th Army treking through to the front. LVI Corps of 4th Panzer resting again this turn. Should be well rested next turn and over 90% ToE again. Ready to rock and roll next turn FBD 4 got shafted with mud on tracks and FBD linked the Brest-Minsk track to the Vilinius track. These two FBDs will converge on Polotsk next turn with another link for redundancy to Germany and to Riga by sea.

Railroad Redundancy

Here is my Railroad redundancy so far. One FBD will be doing the dual track through the heavy forest. The other I have to see what happens next turn. Been linking Lvl 2 railyards to also push more freight :-)

Ok, got tired of messing with these Soviets. Decided to put an end to the threat from the North. I count 13 Division caught in the encirclement with many routed out.
