Hello fellow gaming strategists,

So thought I would try my first editing experiment and am modding/tweaking the '39 campaign today to tone down the Partisans a bit and craft what I consider to be a more accurate historical feel to the 39 scenario for someone playing as Japan. I have tweaked some of the unit build numbers and while some show up fine in my practice game (coastal artillery batteries, more Kamikazes, etc. Others,such as my increased number of new improved heavy cruisers (eight) and historic carrier count (twleve) are not even appearing as build options in the production menu. For example, I am limited to producing no more than five additional fleet carriers to join my existing three Japan starts with and I only can build a total of six cruisers, five new potential builds to join my single, exiting cruiser---I had upped this to eight heavy cruisers.

Any idea what I am doing wrong OR is there a maximum build number for certain weapons or max number of builds per country?

Hi David

The maximum number of units that can be purchased is set by the Build Limit, and this can be edited by going to Campaign -> Edit Country Data -> Edit Unit Build Data

Then edit the Build Limits by increasing the number of units.

Once you've pressed OK enough times to go back to the map, and then saved, this should appear in any new game you start playing with your mod.

Thanks for your prompt reply Bill! So this weekend I tried going in and editing the unit build data as per your directions and saved it. Unfortunately, I still have the same problem after doing this---some of my changes show up fine----other, like the 12 Japanese BBs and CVs end up being left at just 6 and 5 builds and these difference do not equal the current number of units already deployed at the beginning of the game. So, for some reason, it seems like it's only selectively implementing the build changes.

Thanks in advance for any additional help/guidance you can provide on this issue.

Ones in the build queues still count against the build limit.

[Those from scripts however are freebies. ]
