This is the Road to Leningrad scenario. During turn 2 air phase I manually transferred all my fighters to Siauliai airbase as it was the most advanced at the time. Did all my turn 2, always end with hitting the AI air assistant for it to do the airdrops of supply, then the AI depot management and end turn. This time when I opened Turn 3 this greeted me. The AI is setup to transfer groups to Rzhev which i'm no where near. When i click on JG 54 I get whats in the second screenshot.

Something tells me this ain't right. No airbase highlighted at Idritsa where it appears the JG54 is located.

Please attach saves, before and after the move if you have them. Thanks.

Turn 2 end/turn 3 start saves zip attached. The turn 2 save is after i've done everything, but how i got it to repeat is to load turn 2, hit Ai manage depot again and then end turn. When the new turn starts you should see JG54 at Idritsa.

I've already hit the AI manage depot on the Turn 2 save, if i go back and run the turn2 save and not hit the Ai manage depot again everything thing looks like it moves correctly so i'll continue from there.

Hope the saves help.

I also had similar problem involving the Likhoslavl airport and JG 27 when playing RtL in T11. I do not use AI Assist. Screenshot and autosave file of T10 and T11 enclosed.

I dig out the T10 autosave and simply ran the turn. The same problem with the Likhoslavl airport repeated but this time with JG54. The screenshot enclosed but unfortunately the T11 autosave file was not kept.

I tried a third time but the problem did not repeat.

I was able to repeat the AI air assist building a depot. That's not intended and I've added this to our bug list. Since you and I can't repeat getting the AI to transfer air units to Rzhev, there's not much to be done with this. Gary has rewritten some of the rebasing routine in .08 since there was a chance it would get into a very long loop, so maybe this will help prevent your bug from happening again. If you see it again and especially if it's reproducible from a save, please let us know. Thanks.

Was this supposed to be fixed in the new beta? It's just happened again where the AI air assist is trying to transfer planes to air bases deep in Soviet territory. This is the RTL scenario. I couldn't get it to repeat this time.

This is start of T3 air phase

No. There was a fix to keep the AI air assist from building depots, and a rewrite of some transfer routines to prevent a potential major slow down. Since none of us could recreate the transfer to enemy bases, Gary didn't try to work on it. I was hoping maybe the rewrite of the transfer routine might help this, but if you got it to happen with the v.11 then clearly that didn't help. If you find a way to repeat it or can give us any clues, please let us know.

I could not get your case to duplicate, however I noticed that the unit that moved in both cases was the same. It is a fighter unit that is trained as a bomber. That probably doesn't mean much, considering that budd's case was with naval planes. Another recent post was a KG unit. These all seem to be in RtL, and in games against the AI (correct me if I'm wrong). Since some of these cases don't involve use of the AI assist, it may be the Soviet AI is somehow grabbing some Axis air units. I'd appreciate it if any of you seeing this bug will follow the info below which could get us more info if it happens again:

Making a Shortcut for Prelog Saves
While testing, we suggest you create a shortcut for the exe that will cause the game to automatically save games before each logistics phase. These can be very important when we’re tracking down bugs. If the installer already created a shortcut, you can skip items 1 and 2 below, although you’ll have to find where the shortcut is being stored so you can click on it.

1. Select the file WarintheEast2.exe file - right click and Create shortcut. It will appear in the folder.
2. Move shortcut to Desktop
3. On desktop right click your new shortcut and select Properties
4. Copy and paste this text into the target box: "C:\Matrix Games\Gary Grigsby's War in the East 2\WarInTheEast2.exe" -preLogSave
Make sure you use this text as sometimes you can type the wrong hyphens
5. Click Apply

Do you have the autosave from the start of the Soviet turn 10 when this went bad? This would tell me if it's happening in the German turn or during the Soviet AI turn.
