I play a mirror game
During the first turn, as German, I got 100 MP
During the first turn, as German, my opponent got 350 MP ; he spent 150 in Diplomacy and 200 in Research

What's that ?

Challenge IDs : "three zero nine one eight one" and "three zero nine one two one"

Hi schnetzler,

I took a quick look and it is possible to spend extra on Research and Diplomacy by reclaiming invested chits in research categories that you are not interested to pursue. This can also be helped along by disbanding units as well. That being said, the amounts spent on Research and Diplomacy relative to what was reclaimed and the number of units on the map and the amount of MPPs your opponent still has in the bank available to him don't seem to match up from what I can tell.

I could be missing something so as to give the benefit of the doubt I've asked support to contact him to see if we can sort this out.

The unbelievable answer was that my opponent cancel all others research !

Now a bug remains : with a 150 MPP spending on Spain during the first turn, my opponent get systematically xx % during the first turn (18 % or more ...)

It's not a bug - it's just luck. If your opponent is willing to sacrifice to get the possibility of a swing, it's one of the options that the game provides. In my current game, I invested heavily in Spain, too, and was able to swing them twice with 20%+ on two occasions. They are now fighting for my Allies but it took a consistent effort over the next couple of years and US assistance to get it. Nothing is guaranteed with diplomacy spending.

I confirm the bug
I played as Axis. I resigned research on Rocket Weapons and got 87 MPP. I spent 150 MPP against Spain and immediately got + 19%

I think the problem concerns the SEED of the pseudo-random generator which ALWAYS STARTS WITH THE SAME VALUE AND PROVIDES THE SAME RESULT.

Hi Schnetzler,

Can you confirm that this happens let's say 5 times in a row?

I only ask as the SEED is indeed different and does not start with the same value and I ran a quick test on my end in Hotseat mode, repeating the first turn over and over again, and did not receive a hit on Spain until my 10th try. Now it could have very well been my first try as well, as it is and should be random etc.

For reference, we've had the opposite report here on a Steam thread where Big John has never had a hit on Spain via diplomacy on the first turn from the Allied side.
