Pilot OK, didn't hit anyone in the water, and settled in shallow water. Not sure what the state of the tide was, but hopefully they get her out quickly. Not sure if a good rinse will help avoid a significant rebuild. Pilot did a good job of ditching - not a skill you get to practice.

Very nicely done! Tks for posting even if it is a sorry sight.

It's going to be big repair job. Salt water wreaks havoc with everything, especially electrics.

"Ironically, the TBM Avenger that went down in the accident yesterday is painted in the same markings as one of the five TBM Avengers that disappeared in a famous incident in the “Bermuda Triangle” on December 5, 1945 that claimed the lives of 14 crewmen and an additional 13 that disappeared in a PBM-5 Mariner involved in a search operation for the five aircraft. The incident has remained as a significant piece of lore in the Bermuda Triangle superstition."

Said TBM just completed a 18 year rebuild early last year, and had been flying just 14 months.
It belongs to the Titusville/Cocoa (TICO) Florida airport based Valiant Air Command.
Now it will at very best, have another very long rebuild period.
Salt water is hell on aircraft aluminum structures.

I saw something on either BBC, Reuters or CNN yapping about a BB that escaped the DEI using forestation as camo. I don't think I know everything but Dutch BB? Turns out it was a minesweeper....slightly different tonnages.

Lost in translation: warship ~ battleship to people who haven't studied what they report on.

Grump. It really rattles my bottle when people are inaccurate or non-precise. One of my many failings. And it snowed here last night. I like snow, but come on already, I need to do some outside work.
