AGC Turn 35

More troops from the west arrive only to hear that Heinz Guderian has been dismissed as well as Walter Von Reichenau.

I see the Fuhrer's lap dogs are out for scalps.

AGS Turn 35

Things are still bad here more attacks against the battered 6th Armee however only few attacks further south against the shattered Romanians.

At the half way mark of Feb just need to hang on for another couple of weeks.

Supply Turn 34

As if things could not get any worse it does, my supply situation was slowly inching its way up however this turn does a 180.

...

trying to get a handle on what is 'normal for winter' but this is not that different to what I managed for the same turn. I think I have units on higher demand than you (which is basically meaningless as I can't meet that demand) but for the big delivery numbers I got 14,100 supply, 12,500 freight and 56,100 manpower. Another 800 supply and 300 manpower went to the air commands.

So at that level, you got more delivered than I managed (& your front is to the east of mine).

Could you do a view on the loss table?

AGN Turn 36

More attacks by the Russians more routes from 16th Armee, funny though they have thinned there forces out here.

This may give me the breathing space as i have some more troops arriving.

AGC Turn 36

Emboldened by 6th Armee's show of courage I open up front wide series of attacks against the Red Army hoping it will shake the AI's momentum.

A number of Russian units facing 2nd Pz and 3rd are hit hard hope this works.

AGS Turn 36

Enough is enough I have been relentlessly pummelled week after week by the REDS, time for them to taste there own medicine.

Army group South launches a full counterattack, I throw everything I have at the Russians in the last days of Feb.

With the arrival of more troops 16th Armee Front stabilises, I also have some troops from 18th Armee in refit, 4th Pz is the lynch pin at Leningrad.

The Red ( AI ) Army seems to be taken aback by my assaults as there response is easily contained.

Things are looking up until the ground gives way under my feet.

Well that's it for today I have one more turn to screen shot and review but I have been at the game most of the day.

Its been one hell of a winter ride so far and there is still 4 weeks to go.

I cant believe I got this far without being pushed back into The Balkans with my supply and fatigue levels.

AGN Turn 38

Some attacks by the Russians but nothing to serious, we did take Shlisselburg.

I can now seem to pull troops out for refit which is good.

More dismissals Karl Hollidt replaces Ernst Busch as 16th Armee Commander, seems all the hard work of keeping the southern wing of AG North together could not save him from the Fuhrer's wrath.

Despite some attacks and retreats the line maintains a fair decent amount of cohesion and so I am not to worried like I was 5 or 6 turn ago.

More troops pour in to shore up gaps.

Still some concern there but like the Centre I feel more confident here as well.

I have sent another Pz Div to 6th Armee its almost in place plus more Inf.

OB Turn 38

Troops strengths for both sides

The Russians keep growing while I just pass the 3 Mill mark.

AFV are in a bad state trying to pull armour out of the line, however though I did contain most of the attacks on the AI turn it did push some units back, could be risky pulling out to many Pz Divs yet.

More troops arrive at 16th Armee lines, still have Regts covering areas, hopefully in the next few weeks that will change.

The Volhkov line still under the odd attack but holding.

The Russians seem to focusing the main axis of attack against 2nd, 4th and 2nd Pz Armee's.

The line there is under a lot pressure just hope it can hold.

Its here where they are really attacking hard, right across the entire front.

Some places are in bad shape and really wavering to the point of collapse.

Well I did think the Russian we not finished and they attack across the front 2nd, 4th and most of AG South were hit hard.

We were pushed back in a lot of places but it was at a price for the Red Army.

I keep thinking about trying a grand campaign, but then I think this game looks too complicated.

Do not be afraid of the grand campaign. However I would strongly suggest playing the smaller scenarios first and multiple times to get used to what needs to be done in a game. Start with the AI Air Assist and the AI Depot then take over control of those functions when you get there - although you can easily play the grand campaign with the AI asists.

Yes it might seem a bit complicated but there are a lot of functions you can let the AI do for you and also like @carlkay58 has mentioned do a smaller scenario first.

I have played many full campaigns with the original WITE and it helps somewhat but even for me its all new.

Your not going win first game, it might take several but the fun is in learning the game.

good luck

AGN Turn 40

The Russians launched a lot of attacks but thanks to the units I had on refit being put back into the line they were easily contained.

I'm tempted to make a attack on the Leningrad perimeter itself, the sooner I can take the city I can then send troops South or to the Moscow Front.
