The WitE2 Launcher continues to run after the game has been initiated. It consumes very high levels of CPU and power even while sitting idle, to the point where my computer fan runs constantly. It runs at these high levels indefinitely. See Task Manager screenshot below.

I'm unable to use Alt-Tab to get to the launcher after WitE2 is running, so I have been terminating it via the Task Manager "End task" button with no ill effects to the game. This releases the computer resource consumption and the fan stops running.

Can the Launcher resource consumption be reduced when it is sitting idle?

Out of curiosity what brand and model of CPU are you using?

Does not appear to be a universal problem, my launcher lies steadily on 0%.

I have Intel i5-7400 CPU.

the launcher is seriously broken, on my Phenom II sixcore I get 17% CPU load from the launcher, it sometimes fully occupies one core. Also keeps the CPU from clocking down. Minimizing the window does not help either. That's unacceptable.
Something Matrixgames/Slitherine would have to fix + test on older machines as something unnecessary is working in the background which may not be so easily seen on modern CPUs.

I have a friend with a very high end AMD CPU, he also suffers from this issue, it may be AMD related.

Got a modern machine - in fact 3 months old (Intel i7 10700, with a NVidia3070). Also got a high CPU usage by the Launcher, and the fan running until I i kill the launcher.

(8% CPU usage, 19 MB memory, very high energy use).

Matrix has supposedly fixed this launcher issue. Should be seeing an official 1.00.11 version soon and you can let us know then if it is fixed. Thanks for the reports.

Will the new graphical scaling also be in the .11 patch or is that still a later fix? I have not been able to play the game yet due to graphical scaling issues.

The in-game scaling changes will be coming in a future version. We haven't yet released a version to internal testing as Pavel has been going through and adjusting various screens. The main map work has been completed, but there are a lot of pieces that need to be gone through. We're hoping to have it to our testers by early June. If you can't play now, and are interested in getting an early test version, you can email me at 2by3@2by3games.com and we may be able to get a version out to you so you can test it out.
