Hankow is size 6, HQa easily either flown in or by ship same with supplies if you need them. Even Formosa can hit right around Ichang. Kaifeng and Wuchang are both 3.

It doesn't take much to trash all those good units in the open. Certainly not 500. More than enough Sallys to do the deed from game start.

It also doesn't take much to protect the oil in the SRA.

You are assuming two things here though. First that operations have gone relatively smoothly in the SRA and that he was expecting me to move out in the open in the manner that I did. The events that are now occurring in the Chinese theater are directly related to what has and is happening elsewhere. I wouldn't have done what I am doing in China if I hadn't created the conditions for it beforehand.

Not buying it...

The conditions to bomb China heavily exist...with or without whatever you are doing in the SRA.

More likely a personal morale failure, or unaware of options. For example, there should be a troop convoy headed to Wuchang upriver, perhaps some bombardment ships too...but I bet there aren't.

I'm divided wrt those early war Chinese offensives. On the one hand you can do some damage to Jap LCUs, on the other you are running on borrowed supply that would be sorely needed later for defence and R&R.

Yeah it's a risky move to go on the offensive as the Chinese this early for a number of reasons, supply being a big one. I think it comes down to the circumstances of your game and to some extent your playstyle.

I don't think the Burma road gets cut in this game.

Bombardment ships sure, but troop convoy with what troops and to what end? It's been only two days since I attacked Wuchang and I would be shocked if it doesn't fall during the third attack I ordered for the third day.

It's ok, I am not selling anything, we can agree to disagree

Fed up with the Allied heavy bomber scourge, the Japanese High Command ordered an all out assault on the Singapore airfields from where the latest heavy raid the previous turn had originated from.

Wave after wave of Japanese bombers coming in at low altitude absolutely demolished the island's airfields, but instead of finding the sixty some bombers there, they found only a few left behind that couldn't fly. Anticipating exactly such a move by Slith, I had ordered the precious bombers to depart to different airfields to avoid the counterstrike. Unfortunately for the Japanese then, a very large number of aircraft fell to flak to no tangible benefit.

The third attack in three days did the trick, and the Chinese Central Army has now firmly planted the Nationalist flag over Wuchang. Slith appears to be assembling his forces for a counterattack however and is steadily bringing in more air power into the theater.

Japan always has troops, and they certainly had time as you simply can't move 4000+ AV into Wuchang with surprise.

Congrats on taking the base!

Thank you both!

Now to figure out how to exploit the victory to delay his plans in China some more.

Japanese forces are landing in Java in force, which has created some opportunities for PT boat work. I haven't had any luck with them so far this campaign, but I did score a few good hits this turn.

Dogfights rage over China as Slith's fighters attempt to regain air superiority. Recent reinforcements have allowed the Japanese to reach parity in fighters, with now both with some 150 in theater.

Message from the Empire: "Obviously I'm not an opponent up to your Standard. No need to extend the suffering. I give up."

The latest turn we played involved a flank speed dash in by my carriers from over the horizon to strike a large invasion convoy heading for Java. I believe the 48th Infantry Division and some other units were hit hard in multiple waves of attacks, the first of which I will post below. Thanks to Slith for the game, I enjoyed it even if it was short. Frankly I think the Allies are much easier to play than the Japanese (Is that why the Opponents page is covered with people looking for Japanese opponents but very few of the opposite?). This is my third game as the Allies, and none have made it past the first few months of the war. At least my only game as the Japanese made it to 1943.

Your empire game showed that you are very capable. Anyone, except top players, will suffer greatly playing Japan versus you.

Congratulations.

Right call I think by Japan. Perhaps if he had an aar and could get help it might have been worth soldiering on.

Congratulations!

I agree with the AAR idea, it can only help.

"The main action for this turn however occurred in the Malay peninsula. The Japanese built up a considerable aerial presence in Kota Bharu to threaten Singapore, so I decided to go on the offensive with what I had rather than wait to be overwhelmed. I struck Kota Bharu's airfields with a light cruiser task force during the night and immediately followed this with a strong air attack during the day. The defending Japanese fighters were well thinned out by the night bombardment which allowed my Buffalo escorts to do their job and keep the bombers largely intact. The results were very good"

This guy is my hero.

Sir Robin? NO

This is from 1st page, but I had to comment on the aggressivnes of this player.
