Hello fellow map staring community,

I tried searching, but coulndt find a definitive answer on the issue - is the AI really that broken?
I read that the designer tweaked it and one should play the Ironman version, but I am a very casual player and dont want to compete against really strong AI (too time consuming ).

So if I play Scen 2 on Hard (for supply reasons for AI) can I advance the game into 43' and still expect some resistance? Or is it truly broken in the sense that nothing happens anymore and I just steamroll with one PT boat to Tokyo bay?

I cant find it now but there were some base names floating around on the forums that AI needs to capture to stay competitive. From my understanding if you deny AI those bases it dies down pretty quickly.

Makes sense, because 'AI' in the game really is just a bunch of scripts. Does anyone have the list or knows what to do/avoid in order for the Jap AI opponent to stay alive?

I mean they started pretty well, the Kido Butai visiting Soerbaja-Java end of 12/41 has really surprised me

If you want some excitement late game, do a Marianas invasion.

Cheers,

Don't play stock scenarios and don't play aggressively in '42 trying to thwart the AI the way you would against a thinking opponent.

I can't remember how many games of stock, DBB, early Ironman and later Tier 2 and Tier 3 Ironman scenarios I played never getting past mid '43 because I couldn't restrain myself.

I finally succeeded in getting a Tier 3 Ironman (Scen# 40) into '46 with a full scale invasion of Japan in my last game after playing this game many, many times since its release. I did this by finally reigning myself in and allowing the AI a chance to succeed.

I'm currently playing The Long Road to Tokyo which lasts into 1948. I'm in mid December '42 with the AI easily holding its own.

Nowi Ribak, apart from the fact that the AI is scripted, the AI seems to be handicapped in other ways. I play mostly against the Jap AI and I have never seen the AI use Sweep missions. This leads to heavy losses for the AI, especially bombers. With Sweep mission enabled, the AI would be more competitive, and aircfrat losses would be more historical.

Yeah Yaab I know what you mean the JAP bombers fall out of the skies like flies, but I adopted my playstyle to accomodate this specific weakness.
