As title says. It would be nice if we could make our own planets.

I would double that. Either Planet Editor, or an option to have much more detailed control over planet generation.

For me personaly, it is very challenging to find at least somewhat balanced start for a 4-human-players game. It can easily happen that one player is starting in the middle of large desolate desert, a second one is surrounded by mountains, slavers and "impressive tech" aliens, and yet the third one is enjoying 5 soft farmer minor nations as neighbours. In which case, the game can be decided long before the players actually need to fight.

Another typical situation is when human players starts are quite clustered, which is also not great for non-cooperative games.

I had to switch to open map option and re-roll dozens of time to have at least a reasonable start for everyone.

I understand that planet generation makes a great deal of realistic simulations or try to mimic them at least, and it is super cool. But multiplayer experience is really suffering if there is no balance, so option to make maps for such specific needs would be awesome!

A Planet Editor (or a planet tweaker in the 'generator settings') would be a nice feature, maybe a future 'dlc'?

I recognize that I am in the minority when being concerned about getting a less than equal starting position in any pc strategy multiplayer game.
However, I agree that an option in the 'generator settings' allowing for spacing per starting positions (either by zones or some other matrix) would be well received by many/all who play this game multiplayer.

I can attest to the fact that it is a blast in multiplayer...even when starting with a greater challenge than your opponents.
