Yeah Up Front rules the roost for best definition of Fog of War of any design ever in my opinion.

And the way is soooooo open to take the basic concept and do so many other things with it too.

I think using the basic nature of what made Up Front what it is, could be employed for a very nice modern setting too.

Have you seen Hoplites, Paul? It's a freeware card wargame made by an Italian guy, whose name I forget. It's ancients rather than WW2 but is quite good fun and well worth the price :) .
