Status: offline 		The setting is Christmas Island (Pacific) September 23, 1942

A Japanese STF tries to penetrate an Allied Invasion going on at Christmas. The TF of BC Kawachi, 2 CA, 3 CL, and 6 DD is commanded by Admiral Handa Nobituri. An American TF of 3 old BBs (Colorado, West Virginia, and Oklahoma), 2 CA, 1 CL, and 3 DD commanded by the superb Admiral 'Ching' Lee intercepts them.

The following brawl lasts for an AMAZING 19 rounds! The ranges are something: 20, 14, 10, 7, 9, 11, 10, 9, 5, 3, 3, 2, 3, 4, 8, 12, 16, 22, 28. By the time the fight turns into a close range knife fight, there are damaged and crippled ships EVERYWHERE. Think they were down fighting with 1.1", 25MM, .50 Cal, Stone Knives, and Bear Skins at one point!

Two aggressive Admirals fighting toe-to-toe.

RESULTS
Japan loses BC Kawachi and a DD. One crippled CA, 2 moderately damaged CLs, and every DD hit to one extent or another.

The Allies lose BB West Virginia (4 Long Lances), CA Cornwall (1 Torp), and CLAA Dido. BB Oklahoma and CA Canberra are badly damaged. Nearly every remaining ship is heavily damaged.


The Question I have here is have you ever had a fight last so long? I have played Uncommon Valor, War In the Pacific, and now Admiral's Edition and never remember watching a fight last so long!

Maybe not the longest by the clock, but my Marianas PBEM game with XTRG had an engagement with the two Yamato's against the USN standard BB's.

Status: offline 		Game situation dictated sending out this R class with fewer escorts than I would have liked, and sure enough the IJN hits with a torpedo. Resolution fired very few shots...very disappointed in her behavior. The British had a 70 naval, 70 aggression overall commander...might have done better with a less aggressive commander.
