Just wondering what the view is of moving OKH / OKL and the Luftflotte HQ's east into Russian territory.

I usually move Arm Group HQ's forward and even OKH back in WITE1 days but it might different for this game ?

The advantage of an HQ on a supply depot is huge. I have been placing OKH/OKL in Warsaw lately in 41 and then moving it forward in 42 to the largest railyard supplying my main offensive. I use the Luftflotte HQs just as I use Army HQs. I think they are not supposed to help the logistics but I think they do. I am still analyzing that.

Could be an important undocumented rule. We’ll see.

I’d just add that moving OKH further to the east is good for your command rolls.
It does not have a big effect initially but in the long term it can become significative.

no they don't affect depots, you can see this from the mouse over if you have the logistics map mode open

I tend to find I'd rather leave OKH on a big depot such as Warsaw and write off the leadership effect. I use it a lot to refit trashed SUs and it needs to have a decent freight allocation for that. Even more with Stavka, it tends to hold a lot of SU as I rotate damaged ones, pull out fresh ones etc. So for both a NSS+big railyard really helps.

In my beta Soviet game I ended up moving it to Warsaw for the final phases to get the leadership rolls and had to start sending SU back to the reserve to refit (less a big deal of course in the end game)

Loki: But the manuel say Type 1 HQs (i.e. Stavka and OKH), Rail Repair HQs and Air Command HQs do not increase the depot maximum capacity.
So it would not boost the freight allocation for Warsaw depot...

Or do i miss something?

its not so much that Warsaw is boosted by OKH, more that its a huge railyard fairly close to the NSS, so keep the depot at priority 2 and it'll pull down the freight needed to refit and supply the SUs attached to OKH.

More generally I've been exploring the idea of a set of 3-4 depots along the 1941 border, let them pull in freight (high priority) then drop their priority to #1 and it heads east. I think (not sure) this works as a useful safety net if the depots closer to the front can't claim the freight they need direct from Berlin

Just a guess, but you will need 2 home front (ish) depots per 2x line.

On odd turns depot A line 1 is set at 4, depot B line 1 is set at 2. Even turns flip. This is what I found worked best vs AI and seems to be working HvsH.

You can play the piano logistics chain even better, with a few single lines mixed in and air drops to front line depots. Your truck pool will love you once your get it right.
