(Addendum) Turn 3. Jan/Feb 1940. Atlantic. Allied #11. Cape St. Vincent.


(1) A remarkable set of intercepts by the Italian subs in CSV this impulse. With a 20% for each intercept they successfully intercepted 3 of 4 CW CPs originating from Gibraltar and trying to move through the CSV to other sea zones in the Atlantic and forcing the 3 CPs to stop in the CSV.
(2) Though the Italians could have also attempt to search for combat as the non-phasing player, they chose I believe the better part of valor of not doing so owing to the strong allied ASW patrols and escorts.

(1) Japanese ground strike vs NatChi 2-stack manages to flip an AT div.
(2) With the Nationalist in retreat this (likely) means the destruction of the AT div, which will have to be left behind.

(1) The China/US player evaluated the pros and cons for selecting a blitz over an assault. Well, there's really only 1 pro and that's increased chance of survival for the NatChi units under attack.
(2) He decided that increase survival (0.37 of a unit expected) wasn't worth what he'd be giving up if he forced the Japanese player to assault.
(3) In the end, it didn't matter because the Japanese player rolled very well (i.e., 2D10=16).

(1) Another excellent 2D10 roll (=15) by the Japanese player. Actually he only needed a 3 or higher.
(2) The German player looks to the rolls the Japanese player is getting with envy! Or maybe bitterness?

(1) The China/US player chooses blitz in order to try to save a NatChi army.
(2) Didn't matter. The Japanese player continues to roll very well much to the frustration of the Germany player.
(3) To rub some salt in the China/US player's wound, the Japanese's capture prompts a US entry chit draw. And, the China/US player draws a 0!
