As per the thread title...

Issue seems to be with the music volume - when you adjust it it seems that you adjust the mouse click volumes instead and the music doesn't change. Fortunately on restarting the game the adjusted music volume takes effect correctly.

I'm on 1.01.02 beta

This is WAD. You need to restart the game the first time you reset the preferences.

you are right, volume changes can be made during play and adjusted as many times as you wish

I am also seeing that the music volume change isn't happening right away, and I also thought they used to. I've put that on our list to look at and see if something accidentally impacted this.
