This just means the game will not automatically move them? There are no restrictions imposed on player?

If an SU is at a locked HQ, does that mean that a Corp HQ will no longer loan it out within 5 hexes of combat?

The loaning of an SU within 5 hexes applies to the CU and not the combat HEX? So, the loan could be made to a RESERVE CU?

Locked HQs means that the AI wont move the SUs around yes. The player however is free to move the SUs around, provided that they are eligeble for the move (HQs need to be close enough to each other for example).

No, a locked HQ does not affect SU commitment into battle, it simply ensures that the SU will remain with the HQ it is assigned to.

I dont really understand what you mean exactly, the combat hex is what determines SU activation AFAIK.

Thank you kindly. I mean SU(1) is locked at HQ(1).

Now, SU(1) can still be loaned from HQ(1) to DIV(1) no matter whether DIV(1)=RESERVE or DIV(1)=READY?

there is two states locked and un locked in unlocjed you get some times crazy ia behavior of auto moving the su support units locked only means human control

The SU can be loaned to the div if it activates in combat. The SU needs to pass its rolls to do so, so its just as usual. The state of the unit plays no role in its committment, only that the HQ is within range of the unit and within 5 hexes of the combat hex.

So yes, the HQ can be committed if it passes those criteria.

This prompts a related question for me, which is whether the player has to manage all of the SU equipment upgrades and refits manually if SU's are locked. I think the manual said somewhere that the AI moves SU's to reserves for refits, doesn't it? Does that cover both locked and unlocked?

no, if you lock it all, then its all player management

its air groups that are depleted the air AI will send to reserve

I dont think if its locked you have to manage SU upgrades? AM I totally lost ? \I thought this would happen during a refit ?

ok.. the toe is updayed by the game under a myriad of situations if its urgent simply place inside an HQ in supply in a depot
